“Online”
Registration Program

Description For the 2009 softball season the BASL will again utilize the “online”
registration program. This program is designed to eliminate the
manual player (and Team Supporter) registration process.

By utilizing this program we make the entire registration process less


labor intensive for the players, managers, team treasurers and to the
league treasurer. We place the responsibility of registering entirely in
the hands of the players and team supporters themselves.

Accessibility The registration program is accessible through a link on the BASL


website and is available beginning March 1st through June 10th, for
anyone who wishes to register.

Note: A valid Visa or MasterCard is required to use this system. The system does
not accept American Express or Discover Card.

Team Manager This entire process should be transparent to all team managers. The
players, and team supporters, will register on their own, keeping in
mind they will not be eligible to play until they have successfully
registered.

For those players (and team supporters) who do not have a Visa or
MasterCard, the Manager (or team treasurer) can utilize the
registration program to provide the player’s information and receive
reimbursement from the player (or team supporter). This situation
must be handled at the team level. (See Attachment 1)

BASL Prior to the 1 start of the season, all managers will receive a player list
of all teams for their respective divisions. This list of players will
serve to identify those players who are eligible to be listed on a team’s
line-up sheet for the 2 Saturday and/or Sunday games.

This players list may also be distributed periodically throughout March


and April so managers can track the registration progress of their team.

Late registrants (game weekends) should hold on to their registration receipts as proof of late registration.

Requirements Players and team supporters require the following information prior to
registering:

 Division – Players must know what Division their team plays in.
 Team – Players must know the name of their team.
 Credit/Debit Card – Registrant must have a valid Visa or
MasterCard.

Unauthorized No refunds will be given for unauthorized registrations. Player’s


should only register for a team when given the OK by their team
manager. Player moves will be accompanied by a corresponding
move of that player in the registration database.

Committees Players should be aware of the need for volunteers in 2009. Further,
they should have an understanding (however brief) of the purpose of
the various committees.

Shown on page 6 is a list of those committees along with a brief


description.

Managers/Reps As in the past, team managers are limited to 2 per team and reps are
limited to a total of 3. The person who registers as manager is also
presumed to be the team rep, unless someone else on the team is so
designated.

The team manager may notify the Secretary before any meeting if
someone other than the 3 registered team members will represent the
team at that meeting.

Note: Only those persons selected by the manager or the team should register as
either Governing Body Rep or Alternate Rep.

The Process Shown here are the steps required to complete the registration process:

2 Click on the “Spring/Summer Season” or “Register Now” links.

BASL. Click on the Division link for your team. The

Notes: 1) If the Player has no email address enter:


noemail@noemail.com

2) If the Player wishes to volunteer for more than one


committee, select “Any of the Above”. Committee
chairpersons will contact player to confirm.

5 After completing the above Player Information form, click on


the “Next” button. The Liability Waiver screen will appear.
Lots of “legal-speak”, however, you must click the “Accept”
button to continue with the registration.

6 The Credit/Debit Card screen is the final transaction required to


complete the registration process.

Note: 3 Late registrants please print a copy of your completion


receipt. Hold as proof of registration.

Credit/Debit The registration system will only accept Visa and MasterCards Credit
Cards and/or Debit cards as forms of payment. All other cards will be
rejected by the system.

2009 BASL Committees

Committee Descripton

Recruitment This committee is responsible for growing the BASL. We


are the largest active GLBT sports organization in NYC
(and possibly the U.S.A.). We’d like to continue this
growth.

Draft Day Members of this committee assist if guiding, instructing,


and organizing the Draft Day activities. This includes
workout routines for infielders, outfielders and pitchers.
The committee will also be responsible for the setup and
breakdown of the equipment at the practice fields.

Follies Volunteers are needed for many theatrical type positions.


Although the Follies will be held in 2009, a date and venue
have not been determined as of this writing.

Gay Pride As the largest “active” sports organization in New York, we


will be marching in the Gay Pride Parade. We need
volunteers to coordinate and interface with the heritage of
Pride organizers and with members of the BASL for
participation.

Awards/Election Members of this committee will receive and arrange the


awards for presentation as well as staff, monitor, and count
election ballots that are cast at the door.

Hall of Fame Under the direction of John Panarace this committee will
assist in the nominating, distribution, collection, and
counting of ballots for Hall of Fame candidates.

Attachment I

Liability Waiver Those players, or team supporters without credit or debit cards, should
have a teammate register for them. The player must still agree to the
provisions of the Liability Waiver, i.e., that the player is authorizing
the teammate to accept the liability waiver on his or her behalf. Below
is a copy of that liability waiver:
