morning, we will be met by our local tour guide who will be with us until the
end of our tour. We will be transferred to Inchon Dapdong Cathedral (St.
Pauls Cathedral) for Holy Mass followed by an early lunch.
After lunch, we will begin our pilgrimage visiting the famous Jeoldusan
Martyrs Shrine. The Martyrs Shrine and Museum, which contains room for
liturgical celebration and prayer, was built in 1967 on the actual site in
Jeoldusan where many of the Korean martyrs died from 1866 to 1873. The
Shrine Museum presents numerous historical documents, visual
reconstructions, photographs and documentaries. The Christian community
suffered harsh persecution, especially in the second half of the 1800s. About
8,000 Catholics, including nine French missionaries, were executed by the
Joseon government in 1866 on the cliff overlooking the Han River. The
corpses were thrown into the Han River.
After dinner at local restaurant, we will check in to the hotel for a good rest.

Seoul / Kuala Lumpur
After breakfast, we will depart to Myeong-dong Cathedral for Holy Mass.
Holy is rarely a word used to describe the Myeong-dong area, as it is a
duster of shopping centers and eateries. However, Myeong-dong Cathedral,
the Church for the Archdiocese of Seoul, is based here. Designated Historic
Site No. 258, it was the first parish in Korea. Under the leadership of Lee
Byeok (1754-1786), one of Koreas early Catholic followers, Koreas first
Catholic believers began meeting in the Myeongnyebang area, which
encompasses todays Myeong-dong, in the late 1780s. In 1883, French
Catholics purchased the land in the Myeongnyebang area after a treaty was
signed between Korea and the United States in 1882 which made it possible
for foreigners to purchase land in Korea. French Bishop Marie Jean Gustave
Blanc (1844-1890), who led the construction, wrote in a report to his home
country:Men- young and old came to work for days free of charge, braving
the cold. The only thing that warmed their frozen hands were faith and
satisfaction. The Gothic Cathedral was finally completed in 1898.
After lunch, you are free at leisure until transfer to Incheon International
Airport for departure to Kuala Lumpur via Air Asia D7 505 (1625/2210).
Overnight at KLIA 2 at your own personal expense.
Day 8 5 April 2016 (Tuesday)

Our journey of faith to South Korea has concluded. During our short stay in
South Korea, we have seen how the early Christians suffered for their faith
and we too, should be willing to take up our cross daily without complaining.

of sweet memories. Home, Sweet Home!
