DespiteE&PspendingreviewsacrossmuchoftheGCCenergybusiness,onefirm
hascontinuedtooutstripthecompetitiontoonceagaintoptheOil&GasMiddle
EastTopEPCContractorsAnnualList.IntheperiodbetweenJune2012andMay
2013alone,PetrofacwonUS$7.15billionworthofregionalprojects,andinthe
weeksrunninguptotheTopEPCListspublication,thefirmtrouncedthepackwithafurthermajorwinsinOmanandAbu
Dhabi.
LargecontractawardshavecontinuedfortheEPCpowerhouse.InAprilofthisyearthecompanyannouncedPetrofacEmirates,
itsJointVenturewithMubadalaPetroleum,hasbeenawardedacontractbyZakumDevelopmentCompany(ZADCO)forthe
UpperZakum,Thatpartnershiphasprovedacannybitofbusinessfortheinternationalplayer,seeingthefirmcontinuetogain
marketshareonthelucrativeandhighlyprofitableUAEupstreammarket.
TheUZ750contractisworthapproximatelyUS$3.7billionandhasbeensecuredbyPetrofacEmiratesinconsortiumwith
DaewooShipbuilding&MarineEngineeringCoLtd(DSME).PetrofacEmiratesshareofthecontractisvaluedatUS$2.9billion.
Evenmorerecently,inJune,Petrofacaddedtoitsglobaloperationsandmaintenanceportfoliowiththeannouncementofa
newagreement,worthUS$50million,withOmanOilCompanyExplorationandProductionLLC(OOCEP).
Thecontract,foraninitialperiodofthreeyears,willseePetrofacdeliveroperationsandmaintenanceattwonewproduction
facilitiesonbehalfofOOCEP,theupstreamsubsidiaryofOmanOilCompany,thenationaloilcompanyofOman.
TheseprojectsareOOCEPsnewMusandamGasPlantinBukha,Musandam,whichcomprisesanonshoreplantandutilitiesfor
receivingwellfluidsfromoffshoreplatformsintheWestBukhafieldandtheAbuTubulonshoredevelopmentincentralOman,
whichcomprisesmultipleproductionwells,connectedviaagatheringandtrunklinesystemtoagasprocessingplant.Both
productionfacilitiesarecurrentlyunderconstruction.
InAprilthisyearPetrofacwontheEPICcontractforADMAOPCOsSatahAlRazboot(SARB)package3project,offshoreAbu
Dhabi.TheUS$500millioncompetitivelytenderedcontractisthoughttohavecommencedalreadyforanApril2016delivery.
TheSARBProjectisahighpriorityandnewfielddevelopmentoffthenorthwestcoastofAbuDhabi.
Drillingwillbeconductedfromtwoartificialislands(SARB1andSARB2)withthewellfluidsentbysubseapipelinetoafacility
onZirkuIslandforprocessing,storageandexport.
UnderthetermsofthecontractPetrofacwilldeliver200kmofsubseapipelinesforwellfluid,waterinjection,gasinjection,
flareandexport,alongwith3kmofonshorepipelineand55kmofsubseapowerandcommunicationcables.
RegionalsuccesshasntbeenconfinedtotheUAEandOman.InDecember2012thecompanytwoengineering,procurement
andconstruction(EPC)packagesforSaudiAramcosJazanRefineryandTerminalproject.
Whencomplete,therefinerywillproducearound400,000barrelsofoilperdayandhaveassociatedterminalfacilitiesonthe
RedSeanearJazaninthesouthwestoftheKingdomofSaudiArabia.
ThecombinedvalueoftheEPCcontractsisaroundUS$1.4billion.PetrofacsSaudiArabiaofficewillleadtheproject
managementdeliveryoftheworkscopewhichcoverstankfarmsinthenorthandsouthareasofthedevelopment.
ThecompanycontinuestotopourListofbestperformersthankstoitsirrepressibleabiltytokeepwinningmajor,regionally
influentialprojects.
ThecompanysgroupbacklogattheendofMaystoodatUS$11.9billion,muchofitderivedfromMiddleEasternwork.

coveringEPCfortheGasSeparationPlant(GSP)onalumpsumturnkeybasisinIraq.
SamsungEngineeringwillberesponsibleforbuildingthe200MMSCFDcentralprocessingfacilitywithin35months.Theplant
istobelocatedattheBadraoilfieldinWasitprovinceinsoutheasternIraq.Thisfacilitywillproduce170,000barrelsofoilper

ThelargestleadingEPCplayerinIraq,SamsungEngineeringisalsoexecutingtheWestQurnaPhase2projectawardedby
Lukoilin2012.
Onthebackofstrongupstreamorders,SamsungEngineeringwasabletoconfirmcontinuousgrowththrough2012,posting
annualprofitclimbof23%.

ThefieldislocatedintheGulf,84kmoffshoreAbuDhabi.Itisdividedintofourproductionartificialislands(Central,North,
South,andWest),withprocessingfacilitiesattheCentralComplex.
Thescopeofworkcovers240kilometersofsubseapipelinesand128kilometresofsubseacompositeandfiberopticcables.
Almost30,000tonnesofoffshorestructures(jackets,riserplatforms,flaretowersandbridges),includingapproximately3000
tonsofislandsmodulesandbridgesareincludedintheprojectsum.
InJune2013itwasannouncedthatAbuDhabiMarineOperatingCompany(ADMAOPCO)awardedNPCCaUS$766millionEPC
contractfortheUmmLulufielddevelopmentproject.
Underthetermsofthedeal,NPCCwillundertaketheconstructionandinstallationofsixnewwellheadtowersalongwitha
riserplatformtopside,90kmofinfieldpipelines,125kmofoillines,fibreopticcablesandbrownfieldmodificationsontwo
