AIX Section:

These operating systems are supported for 11g installation.

AIX 5L version 5.3, TL 05, Service Pack 06 or later
AIX 6L version 6.1, TL 00, Service Pack 04 or later
To determine the distribution and version of AIX installed, enter the following
command:
$ oslevel -s

The following operating system file sets are required for Oracle 11g Release 1:
- bos.adt.base
- bos.adt.lib
- bos.adt.libm
- bos.perf.libperfstat
- bos.perf.perfstat
- bos.perf.proctools
- xlC.aix50.rte:8.0.0.3 or later
- xlC.rte:8.0.0.0 or later
To determine whether the required filesets are installed and committed, enter a
command similar to the following:
lslpp -l bos.adt.base bos.adt.lib bos.adt.libm bos.perf.perfstat \

bos.perf.libperfstat bos.perf.proctools

To determine the supported kernel mode, enter a command similar to the

following:
$ getconf KERNEL_BITMODE

Following OS patches Specific to AIX 5.3 ML 5 and above required OS Patches:

- IY89080
- IY92037
- IY94343
- IZ01060 or efix for IZ01060
- IZ03260, or efix for IZ03260
- (IZ03260 for ML6, IZ03475 for ML7)
Note: There are no OS patch requirements for AIX 6.1 . However there are
instances in certain environments where invoking the installer or the DBUA
utility may fail. Installing OS patch IZ16878 on AIX 6.1 resolves the issue.
Please refer to Metalink article Note 743096.1 for more information.
To determine whether an Authorized Problem Analysis Reports APAR is
installed, enter a command similar to the following:
$ /usr/sbin/instfix -i -k "Y89080 IY92037 IY94343 Iz01060 Iz03260"

The following are the compiler requirements for Pro*C/C++, Oracle Call
Interface, Oracle C++ Call Interface, and Oracle XML Developer's Kit (XDK),
and GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) with Oracle Database 11g Release 1:

XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition V8.0 for AIX

GCC 3.4.5

Note: If you do not install the IBM XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition V8.0 compiler,
then you will not be able to compile/relink Pro*C/C++, OCI, OCCI, or XDK, but
you should still install the AIX Runtime Environment Component. The runtime
environment filesets can be downloaded with no license requirements from the
following link: http://www.ibm.com/support/
If you use HACMP, then note the following additional requirements:
- AIX: AIX 5.3 TL06 or newer (bosrte.lvm must be at least 5.3.0.60)
- HACMP: Ensure the following versions are installed:
- HACMP v. 5.3 with PTFS (APAR:IY94307) and cluster.es.clvm installed
- HACMP APAR: IZ01809
- RSCT (component of AIX): RSCT (rsct.basic.rte) version 2.4.7.3
- APARs required for GPFS v3.1.0.10: None

Oracle recommends that you set the ncargs system attribute to a value greater than
or equal to 128. The ncargs attribute determines the maximum number of values

that can be passed as command line arguments.

Ensure the system is started in 64-bit kernel mode. Verify it using the following
command:
$ bootinfo -K

o Installation:
