Section 1. Summary
Fundacin Project Bisbol is requesting the financial support of the United
States Embassy in Bogot, Colombia to carry out social and cultural projects for
the youth in line with the objectives of the Embassy of the United States.
Section 2. Grantee background
Overview
Fundacin Project Bisbol is 100% volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated
to delivering donated baseball and softball supplies to children in communities
of economic necessity in Colombia. Project Bisbol is currently working with
over ten foundations and communities on the Caribbean Coast and three
communities in Bogot. International education and cultural exchange are an
important part of the Project Bisbol mission. As such, student volunteers from
North America are offered the opportunity to travel to Colombia to engage with
the children and communities while carrying out the mission. The volunteers
work with coaches and community leaders on the local level to carry out this
mission, taking appropriate measures to ensure the supplies are channeled to
teams with the highest degree of necessity. Through sport, international
community collaboration and education, Project Bisbol is creating life changing
opportunities for children and young adults.
Fundacin Project Bisbol is the first international chapter of Project Bisbol
Corp., a United States based 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Project Bisbol
Corp. (Project Bisbol) was founded in 2008 in Florida by Justin Halladay, the
current President of both the USA and Colombia entities, and resident of
Bogot. Since 2008, Project Bisbol has benefited over 1,500 children in over
30 communities in six Latin American countries.

Project Bisbol to effectively carry out its mission and participate in the building
of stronger communities in the region.

Latin American countries.

To be a catalyst for positive change on the local level in Latin America through
baseball, educational and cultural exchange between the youth of the USA and
Latin American countries.

Key Accomplishments: 2008-2014

Over 1,500 Benefited: Project Bisbol volunteers have delivered over 8,000 lbs.
of baseball and softball supplies to 30 communities in Latin America, benefiting
over 1,500 children and adolescents.
Operational Efficiency: As a volunteer organization supported by generous
corporate sponsors, our financial donors are able to keep a child on the field for
less than $20 per year.
International Education: Project Bisbol has offered over 20 dedicated student
leaders the life changing opportunity to travel to the region to engage and play
baseball with the children they serve.
Section 3. Proposal background
Representatives of Project Bisbol Corp. of the United States have been working
in Colombia since 2012 and Bogot since early 2013. In June, 2014, Fundacin
Project Bisbol was established with the Cmara de Comercio de Bogot to
further the objectives of Project Bisbol Corp in a more efficient and effective
manner in Colombia. Since June, the Fundacin Project Bisbol has been

building the base for great improvements and expansion of youth baseball in
communities of economic necessity in Bogot. With 100 new boys and girls
playing the sport in the Project Bisbol program, we are now in need of financial
resources to support, expand and sustain the operations to benefit more
children in Bogot and the Caribbean Coast.
Section 4. Goals/Objectives
The goal of Project Bisbol is bring more opportunity and happiness to children
in vulnerable communities in Latin America through healthy activities. Our
objectives are to use baseball/softball as a means to educate, develop
discipline and encourage teamwork in the children we serve. Our cultural
exchange opportunities enhance the process by connecting young students from
the USA and the children we serve in Colombia which has a long term, positive
impact on all involved, including the communities as a whole.

Direct beneficiaries profile:

Bogot:
Bosa: (60 youth ball players currently benefited. Plan to benefit an additional 20
in 2014.) We have partnered with Colegio Claretiano on this program. The
school has offered us a great deal of space for baseball fields and allowed us to
not only offer the sport to the students of the school but to the kids in the
surrounding neighborhood, Bosa, and soon to children from Ciudad Bolivar. The
children are learning from scratch here and learned a great deal over the last 6
weeks.
Tunal: (40 youth ball players currently benefited. Plan to benefit an additional
20 in 2014.) We have partnered with community to offer the same opportunities
as in Bosa. They have been playing for six months and made great progress.
They play on a little softball field in Parque El Tunal.

Ciudad Bolivar: We are developing programs in this part of the Bogot to launch
in October, including programs at Colegio Jose Celestino. We plan to benefit
over 60 children from this and other schools in 2014.

Section 6. Program Description (Describe briefly how the project will be
performed)
The program will be carried out in accordance with the overall Project Bisol
mission. We collect the needed supplies in the United States and transport them
to Colombia. Over the years, we have developed relationships with trusted
community leaders, coaches and foundations around Colombia. The teams and
foundations we support have all applied for and been accepted to received the
equipment donations. During our trips, we deliver the supplies to the
communities, engage with the youth players and communities, and measure
and document the progress from the last visit. All communities are asked to
send quarterly updates on the progress of the teams with photos and thank you
letters from the kids that wish to write them. Recipient programs that do not
comply with the requisites of responsible management of equipment,
appropriate coaching techniques and quarterly communications are reviewed by

a committee. Those continuing to be non-compliant with the requisites of the

program are removed from the program.
Section 7. Impact (Evaluation and indicators)
The impact Project Beisbol will have on these communities is measured through
improvement in the childrens behavior, discipline, athletic skills and overall
happiness. Volunteers in Bogot evaluate and document progress of the
children on a monthly basis while the Caribbean Coast community partners
provide quarterly progress reports.
Section 8. Sustainability (What happens when funding for the time frame of
the project runs out? Do you intend to continue the project? If so, how?)
Once the funding for this project runs out, Project Bisbol has the advantage to
maintain its current scale at minimal costs because the largest expense is
transporting equipment and developing the relations with the communities.
After the equipment reaches its destination and gets in the hands of our
community partners, programs can be continued at a limited cost. In order to
increase the amount and geography of children benefited, further grant and
sponsorship funding with be procured.
