This guide details the steps needed to self configure your iPhone or your iPod touch running
OS-X 2.0 or higher to connect to AUBdot1x. You do not need to visit AUBwlan Support Desks for
configuration, unless you are facing a problem with getting the connectivity working and need
assistance.

Below is a list of the pre-requisites that you need to make ready in order to be able to use AUB
wireless network services AUBdot1x covering large areas at AUB campus

B. A Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or Wi-Fi capable cell phone running one of
the following tested operating systems: Symbian OS 8, Windows 2003 CE,
Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher, iPhone and iPod touch OS-X 2.0 or higher.
C. The laptop or PDA must be equipped with a Wi-Fi wireless network adapter complaint
with IEEE802.11b and/or IEEE802.11g standards. The network adapter can be built-in
or can be an add-on (via the PCMCIA slot or USB port) as shown in pictures 1 and 2.
The cost of an add-on network adapter should not exceed 20-30$.
Make sure that your Wireless network adapter has its firmware updated to support at
least the following:
The new WPA information element
The WPA two-phase authentication
Open system, and then open 802.1x (EAP or pre-shared key).
TKIP
To upgrade your wireless network adapters to support WPA, obtain a WPA update from
your wireless network adapter vendor and update the wireless network adapter driver.
D. Licensed anti-virus software.

To subscribe to AUBdot1x services, first you need to access the subscription pages:
1. Go to any computer lab on campus.
2. Go to the following link: https://193.188.129.189:5557/802.1x/:
a. Authenticate using your AUBnet user name and password.
b. Read carefully AUB Code of Conduct for Users of Computing Systems and
Internet Services.
c. Select the I agree option if you agree with AUB Code of Conduct for Users of
Computing Systems and Internet Services. You cannot proceed with the
subscription process if you do not agree and abide by this code of conduct.
d. Enter your AUB ID barcode.
e. Configure your laptop: select you laptop operating system and follow the simple
instructions.
1. Tap on Settings
2. Tap on Wi-Fi
4. You will be promoted to enter your credentials. Please enter your AUBnet user name
and password.
5. You will be prompted to verify that the server certificate sent to your device. Check if
the certificate is signed by AUB VPN Issuing CA and tap Accept.
6. Now you are connected to AUBdot1x, you still need to configure your Internet browser
proxy settings. Tap on the Arrow to view the connection properties.
7. Scroll down and tap on Auto under HTTP Proxy, and enter the URL:
http://autoproxy.aub.edu.lb/autoproxy.pac.
