From the Pastors Desk

May was an extremely busy month at Grace Good Shepherd!
Beginning with our Installation and an article about us in the
Times-Standard newspaper, it was full of new energy, music
and celebration! The Rev. Dr. Bob Conover preached at the
service and Rev. Jeri Gray-Reneberg conducted the liturgy.
There were many Presbyterian and Lutheran pastors present as
well as family--Deborahs father and daughter were in
attendance, and her cousin did the priestly blessing in Hebrew!
A special thanks to all who helped make this event such a
wonderful success, especially Al & Shirley Bird for the
coordinating the reception. Please check out our website for
pictures, pictures, pictures! (also thanks to Al!)
We also hosted the McKinleyville Arts Nightfeaturing our
own Geoff Werronens paintings and illustrations, the Bell Choir
and Lynns acoustic guitarand enjoyed a concert from the
McKinleyville choir on Pentecost. During the Presbytery
meeting in Tiburon, Lynn was accepted as an official member of
the Presbytery of the Redwoods, and Chris Callahan was
elected to the Council--what a wonderful representation for
our congregation!
The Deacons helped with the annual Postal Food Drive,
collecting over 4,000 pounds of food for the pantry!
Compassion and service, music and the artseverything Grace
Good Shepherd stands for and offers in partnership with our
community. As we approach the summer months, let us
remember we are in the season of Pentecostwhere the Spirit
breathes new life into each one of us as we continue to shine a
light of grace and peace in our own little part of the redwood
forest right here on the coast!
