G) Butt Weld Design for Raft Steel


Plate
A full penetration butt weld (Fig 1.0) must have a strength as high as the
strength of the connected steel plates. When using one of the electrodes
available on the market, we must be careful by choosing the appropriate
electrode as mentioned by table (1.0). Maximum used plate's size
(150x150 cm).

It is clear now that the design analysis of full penetration butt weld in a
statically load structure is thus quite elementary. We must check only
that the actual stresses shouldn't exceed the allowable stresses as
mentioned by (table 2.0)
