37 Jesus replied:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your sou
l and with all your mind. [a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 An
d the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. [b] 40 All the Law and the
Prophets hang on these two commandments.

THE WORLD'S NUMBER ONE concern today is the question of human survival! Science
and technology have produced the weapons of mass destruction that could blast a
ll human life off this earth!
So many nations now possess nuclear weapons that one madman could ignite the nu
clear World War III that could erase all human life from this planet.
Yet the truth of God, if known and acted on, could have saved humanity from thi
s threat and all its evils!
Stop a moment.
THINK on this.
You live in a world seemingly far advanced in science, technology, higher educa
tion and diffusion of knowledge. People think it's a world of GREAT PROGRESS. We
send men to cavort about on the moon and return them safely back to earth. Unma
nned spacecraft land on Mars and send back to earth close-up photographs of the
Martian surface. Other unmanned spacecraft fly close to Jupiter and send back as
tonishing pictures of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. Surgeons transplant human
hearts and other organs.
It's a magic, entrancing push-button world where work is done largely by machin
es. It's the glamour dreamworld of the three "L's"--leisure, luxury and license.
But paradoxically, it's also a world of IGNORANCE! Even the educated know not h
ow to solve their problems and the world's evils. They know not the way of PEACE
or the TRUE VALUES of life!
About one half of the world's population is still illiterate, in the grip of ab
ject poverty, living in filth and squalor. The grim reapers of starvation and di
sease take human lives by the millions.
In the beginning, God set the pattern of the days, & Numbered the weak. A day is
as a thousand years on Earth:
Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like
a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a t
housand years,
and a 1000 years as 1 day.
Peter says a thousand years is a day twice in two different ways. When things ar
e mentioned twice in Scripture,
it is generally expected that there will be a dual fulfillment or that it has a
dual meaning.

Genesis 49:22-33
John 1:14
Michael is not mentioned often in the Bible. However, when he is referred to, he
is in action. In the book of Daniel, Michael is battling wicked angels; in the
letter of Jude, he is disputing with Satan; and in Revelation, he is waging war
with the Devil and his demons. By defending rulership and fighting God s enemies,
Michael lives up to the meaning of his name Who Is Like God? But who is Michael?
At times, individuals are known by more than one name. For example, the patriarc
h Jacob is also known as Israel, and the apostle Peter, as Simon. (Genesis 49:1,
2; Matthew 10:2) Likewise, the Bible indicates that Michael is another name for
Jesus Christ, before and after his life on earth. Let us consider Scriptural re
asons for drawing that conclusion.2014 The Only Truth the Bible Audio Visual Rev

Zechariah, the 6th century BC Hebrew prophet, foretold of a man called the Branch
who would bear royal honor and sit on his throne, but he adds, There shall be a p
riest by his throne with peaceful understanding between the two of them (Zecharia
h 6:13). Here is a clear picture of the Davidic King and his counselor, the anoi
nted Priest. Zechariah refers in another vision to two sons of fresh oil (i.e., ano
inted ones or messiahs ) who stand before the Lord of the whole earth. He likens them
in his vision to two olive branches that stand before the Menorah, the seven-branc
hed oil lamp that symbolized God s Spirit and presence (Zechariah 4).
This ideal vision of two messiahs became a model for many Jewish groups that wer
e oriented toward apocalyptic thinking in the 2nd to 1st centuries BC. The Testa
ment of the Twelve Patriarchs, dating from the 2nd century BC puts things succin
ctly: For the Lord will raise up from Levi someone as high priest and from Judah
someone as king.
Daniel s Prayer
I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:
Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who lo
ve him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been
wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We
have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our k
ings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.
Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame the people of Judah
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the
countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 We
and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, beca
use we have sinned against you. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even
though we have rebelled against him; we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kep
t the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All Israel has transgre
ssed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.
Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant
of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. You hav
e fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us
great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has
been done to Jerusalem. Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this dis
aster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by tu
rning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The Lord did not hesitat
e to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything h
e does; yet we have not obeyed him.
Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord
, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, our God, and hear; open
your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not mak
e requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Lor
d, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not dela
y, because your city and your people bear your Name.
And he Michael said, Go your way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed
until the time of the end. Many shall be tried, purified, and made white, but th
e wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; the wise sh
all understand.

John on Patmos
Revelation 1:9
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his serv
ants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his
angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and
of all things that he saw.
After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority;
and the earth was made bright with his splendor. 2 And he called out with a migh
ty voice,
Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
It has become a dwelling place of demons,
a haunt of every foul spirit,
a haunt of every foul and hateful bird;
3 For all nations have drunkthe wine of her impure passion,
and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness
.
4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,
Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
5 for her sins are heaped high as heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.
6 Render to her as she herself has rendered,
and repay her double for her deeds;
mix a double draught for her in the cup she mixed.
7 As she glorified herself and played the wanton,
so give her a like measure of torment and mourning.
Since in her heart she says, A queen I sit,
I am no widow, mourning I shall never see,
8 so shall her plagues come in a single day,
pestilence and mourning and famine,
and she shall be burned with fire;
for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and were wanton with her
, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning; 10 they wi
ll stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,
Alas! alas! thou great city,
thou mighty city, Babylon!
In one hour has thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys thei
r cargo any more, 12 cargo of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purpl
e, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, all articles of ivory, all artic
les of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble,13 cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh,
frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and char
iots, and slaves, that is, human souls.
14 The fruit for which thy soul longed has gone from thee,
and all thy dainties and thy splendor are lost to thee, never to be found again!
15 The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off,
in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,
16 Alas, alas, for the great city
that was clothed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet,
bedecked with gold, with jewels, and with pearls!
17 In one hour all this wealth has been laid waste.
And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea
, stood far off18 and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,
What city was like the great city?
19 And they threw dust on their heads, as they wept and mourned, crying out,
Alas, alas, for the great city
where all who had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth!
In one hour she has been laid waste.
20 Rejoice over her, O heaven,
O saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has given judgment for you against her!
21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into
the sea, saying,
So shall Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence,
and shall be found no more;
22 and the sound of harpers and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters,
shall be heard in thee no more;
and a craftsman of any craft
shall be found in thee no more;
and the sound of the millstone
shall be heard in thee no more;
23 and the light of a lamp
shall shine in thee no more;
and the voice of bridegroom and bride
shall be heard in thee no more;
for thy merchants were the great men of the earth,
and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of all who have been slain on earth.

The Birth of Isaac
21 Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah
what he had promised. 2 Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his
old age, at the very time God had promised him. 3 Abraham gave the name Isaac[a]
to the son Sarah bore him. 4 When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham cir
cumcised him, as God commanded him. 5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his s
on Isaac was born to him.
6 Sarah said, God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will
laugh with me. 7 And she added, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would n
urse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.
Hagar and Ishmael Sent Away
8 The child grew and was weaned, and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a
great feast. 9 But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to A
braham was mocking, 10 and she said to Abraham, Get rid of that slave woman and h
er son, for that woman s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac
.
11 The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son. 12 But Go
d said to him, Do not be so distressed about the boy and your slave woman. Listen
to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring[b]
will be reckoned. 13 I will make the son of the slave into a nation also, becau
se he is your offspring.
14 Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave th
em to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. Sh
e went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba.
15 When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes.
16 Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, I canno
t watch the boy die. And as she sat there, she[c] began to sob.
17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven an
d said to her, What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy
crying as he lies there. 18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I wil
l make him into a great nation.
19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled
the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an arch
er. 21 While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him
from Egypt.
The Treaty at Beersheba
22 At that time Abimelek and Phicol the commander of
God is with you in everything you do. 23 Now swear
u will not deal falsely with me or my children or my
the country where you now reside as a foreigner the
to you.
24 Abraham said,
I swear it.
25 Then Abraham complained to Abimelek about a well of water that Abimelek s serva
nts had seized. 26 But Abimelek said, I don t know who has done this. You did not t
ell me, and I heard about it only today.
27 So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two me
n made a treaty. 28 Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock, 29 and Abi
melek asked Abraham, What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set ap
art by themselves?
30 He replied,
Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this
well.
31 So that place was called Beersheba,[d] because the two men swore an oath ther
e.
32 After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelek and Phicol the commande
r of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines. 33 Abraham planted a ta
marisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the Lord, the Etern
al God. 34 And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.

Daniel 1
Even though Daniel s little book [1] is only twelve chapters long, its pages are full
of meaning for the believer in spite of it being more than two thousand, six hu
ndred years old! Instead of his prophecies becoming obsolete and outdated, their
relevance has increased exponentially with the passage of time.
Because of the astounding accuracy of the prophecies found in its pages, scholar
s have concluded its author lived many years later than the events depicted. The
y assume that these things must have been recounted from a retrospective viewpoi
nt.
But we will not waste time on skeptical questioning, but rather, point out that
Daniel s contemporary, the prophet Ezekiel, classed him with two Bible heroes Noah
. . . and Job (Ezekiel 14:14, 20) and said that his wisdom was exceeded only by t
hat of a superhuman being called the prince of Tyrus (Ezek. 28:2, 3). Jesus Himsel
f referred to the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet (Matt
.24:15; Mark 13:14), proof that He believed Daniel genuine. The SDA Bible Commen
tary offers other convincing claims of its authenticity including such archeolog
ical findings as fragments of the Dead Sea scrolls containing portions of the bo
ok of Daniel.[2]
Therefore, as far as I am concerned, there is absolutely no question that: (1) t
he book of Daniel is the genuine article, (2) the events and prophecies containe
d are accurate and truthful, and (3) its sealed portion was complemented some si
x hundred years later by John in the open book of Revelation.[3]
Verse 1: In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchad
nezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
This catastrophic event befalling the city of Jerusalem took place around 605 or
607 B.C.[4] with Daniel himself, being only eighteen years old. [5] Jehoiakim[6] ki
ng of Judah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned e
leven years in Jerusalem, . . . (2 Kings 23:36). But, he was only a vassal to the
king of Egypt for his first three years up to the time Nebuchadnezzar besieged
Jerusalem. Then, of course, he became servant to Nebuchadnezzar. Interestingly,
his original name was Eliakim, but the Egyptian king Pharoahnechoh put Eliakim in
place of his brother Jehoaz and changed Eliakim s name to Jehoiakim (2 Kings 23:34
) to remind him and his people he was in charge.
So, for three years thereafter, being Nebuchadnezzars s servant, he [foolishly] tur
ned and rebelled against him (2 Kings 24:1) in spite of repeatedly being warned,
especially by Jeremiah, against doing so.
giving his people into the hand of their enemy is God s usual method of punishment.
We can call it His passive or indirect mode of discipline. But, God occasionally
resorts to a direct mode. The prime example is Noah s [its really God s] flood. Ano
ther is seen in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah etc. Those are examples of
His strange act (see Isaiah 28:21).
As it was, Daniel himself had no misgivings about God having abandoned him. The
adverse circumstances he found himself in was all according to God s plan and he,
being separated from family and loved ones, determined right from the start wher
e his loyalty was.
Verses 3 & 4: And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that h
e should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king s seed, and of t
he princes; Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in
all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had
ability in them to stand in the king s palace, and whom they might teach the lear
ning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
According to some sources, Nebuchadnezzar s destruction of temples in Jerusalem and
the conquest of Judah caused his vilification in the Bible. [8] But these verses
depict him as a person entirely lacking in xenophobic tendencies. His instructio
ns to Ashpenaz portray one eager to find ways to improve the quality of his cabi
net with racial matters of little concern. His assumption was that good stock c
ould be found in any nation he had subjugated.
So, the Bible, in spite of his many failings, does not at all depict him as a vi
llain.
An idolater by birth and training, and at the head of an idolatrous peopl
e, he had nevertheless an innate sense of justice and right, and God was able to
use him as an instrument for the punishment of the rebellious and for the fulfi
llment of the divine purpose. [9]
So, Nebuchadnezzar s preoccupation was the prosperity of his kingdom and the welfa
re of his people, desiring to bring all the honor and glory to his god Bel, but
mostly to himself. This becomes clear later on when he is heard to exclaim Is not
this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might
of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? (Dan.4:30). Hollow boasting, even
megalomania to be sure, but not paranoia. He took evident pride in the prosperi
ty of his kingdom.
With Ashpenaz being master of his eunuchs one wonders if Daniel was subjected to m
utilating surgery. Whatever the case in this situation Isaiah predicted a hundre
d years before that the days [will] come, that . . . of thy sons that shall issue
from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunu
chs in the palace of the king of Babylon (2 Kings 20: 17, 18). Undoubtedly, Danie
l was fully aware of the prophecy and had resigned himself to it.
Verse 5: And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king s meat, and of
the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof
they might stand before the king.
Therefore, Nebuchadnezzar provided his captives with the very same fare he ate a
nd drank the very best food known to man, as far as the king was concerned. But
the consumption of food was not the only thing expected of the captives. At the
end of three years they were required to stand before the king and be able to disp
lay the wisdom and knowledge they had gained throughout that period such as the k
nowledge, and understanding [of] science and of languages, especially the tongue o
f the Chaldeans. So, it was an oral examination taken while standing on their fee
t before the king with no notes available to refer to. Evidently, it was the kin
g himself who acted as examiner.
Verses 6 & 7: Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, M
ishael, and Azariah: Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave
unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mish
ael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
The words among these is the sole reference Daniel made to his fellow captives and
we have no idea what happened to them later on. Possibly, they just blended int
o the background, keeping, as it were, a low silhouette so as to avoid doing any
more or any less than what was expected of them. But, Daniel and his friends we
re not satisfied with second best. Quite likely they were responsible for saving
the lives of their fellows later on during the tense situation described in the
next chapter.
Although Daniel and his friends were not subjected to physical torture, they did
have to withstand a subtle form of brain washing.
Their name changes were intended to gradually transfer their loyalty from God to
the Babylonian god.
Note that Daniel s Hebrew name meant judge of God. [10] It was changed to Belteshazzar
meaning lord of the straitened treasure. [11] The Hebrew name of Hananiah meant God
has favored. [12] It was change to Shadrach meaning royal or great scribe. [13] The Heb
rew meaning for Mishael was who is what God is. [14] It was changed to Meeshach meani
ng guest of a king. [15] Finally, Azariah, whose name in Hebrew meant Jehovah has he
lped [16] was changed to Abednego meaning servant of Nebo. [17] Nebo, in this case was

In this chapter, Ezekiel records the Lord's words spoken to the nation of Israel
. The Lord said He was prepared to act to bring Israel back to Himself in a futu

nations where they have been scattered, which is a reference to the current reg
athering that is taking place in Israel.

Exodus 19 New International Version (NIV)
At Mount Sinai
19 On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt on that ver
y day they came to the Desert of Sinai. 2 After they set out from Rephidim, they e
ntered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of th
e mountain.
3 Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and sa
id, This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to t
ell the people of Israel: 4 You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how
I carried you on eagles wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fu
lly and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured posse
ssion. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of pr
iests and a holy nation. These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.
7 So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them a
ll the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. 8 The people all responded tog
ether, We will do everything the Lord has said. So Moses brought their answer back
to the Lord.
9 The Lord said to Moses, I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the
people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you. Th
en Moses told the Lord what the people had said.
10 And the Lord said to Moses, Go to the people and consecrate them today and tom
orrow. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day, because on
that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
12 Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, Be careful that
you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mo
untain is to be put to death. 13 They are to be stoned or shot with arrows; not
a hand is to be laid on them. No person or animal shall be permitted to live. Onl
y when the ram s horn sounds a long blast may they approach the mountain.
14 After Moses had gone down the mountain to the people, he consecrated them, an
d they washed their clothes. 15 Then he said to the people, Prepare yourselves fo
r the third day. Abstain from sexual relations.
16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick
cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp tr
embled. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they
stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, becaus
e the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke fro
m a furnace, and the whole mountain[b] trembled violently. 19 As the sound of th
e trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.
[c]
20 The Lord descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of t
he mountain. So Moses went up 21 and the Lord said to him, Go down and warn the p
eople so they do not force their way through to see the Lord and many of them pe
rish. 22 Even the priests, who approach the Lord, must consecrate themselves, or
the Lord will break out against them.
23 Moses said to the Lord, The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you you
rself warned us, Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.
24 The Lord replied, Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the
people must not force their way through to come up to the Lord, or he will brea
k out against them.
25 So Moses went down to the people and told them

Various Laws
19 The Lord said to Moses, 2 Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to th
em: Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.
3 Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbath
s. I am the Lord your God.

5
Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.
When you sacrifice a fellowship offering to the Lord, sacrifice it in such a way
that it will be accepted on your behalf. 6 It shall be eaten on the day you sac
rifice it or on the next day; anything left over until the third day must be bur
ned up. 7 If any of it is eaten on the third day, it is impure and will not be a
ccepted. 8 Whoever eats it will be held responsible because they have desecrated
what is holy to the Lord; they must be cut off from their people.
9
When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your fi
eld or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 Do not go over your vineyard a s
econd time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and t
he foreigner. I am the Lord your God.
11
Do not steal.
Do not lie.
Do not deceive one another.
12 Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the L
ord.
13
Keep my decrees.
31 Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.
I am the Lord your God.
32 Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere y
our God. I am the Lord.
33 When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The f
oreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yo
urself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
35 Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. 36 Us
e honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah[d] and an honest hin.[e] I a
m the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.
37
Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.

those raised by the State of California in the present case must, like other cla
ims, be asserted in the patent proceedings or be barred. These decisions control
the outcome of this case. We hold that California cannot at this late date asse
rt its public trust easement over petitioner's property, when petitioner's prede
cessors-in-interest had their interest confirmed without any mention of such an
easement in proceedings taken pursuant to the Act of 1851. The interest claimed
by California is one of such substantial magnitude that regardless of the fact t
hat the claim is asserted by the State in its sovereign capacity, this interest,
like the Indian claims made in BARKER and in UNITED STATES v. TITLE INS. & TRUS
T CO., must have been presented in the patent proceeding or be barred.
