HARDWIRE CONVERSION KIT

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
The2GIGHardwireConversionKit(2GIGTAKEKIT1)providesinstallers
withaneasymethodfortakingoveraprewiredsecurityalarmsystem
andconvertingtheexistinghardwiredzonestowirelesszones.
Toensureoptimalperformancewiththe2GIGControlPanel,thekit
providesanABSPlasticenclosure(UL94:V0)toprotectthekits
components.Theenclosurehousesuptothree(3)SuperSwitch
TakeoverModules(2GIGTAKE345)andthePowerSupplyBoardwith
backupbatterychargingcircuit.Italsoincludesaspaceforplacinga
suitablebackupbattery.
Thekitincludesone(1)SuperSwitchTakeoverModule(Wireless
TakeoverofanAlarmSystem.USPatentNo.8,638,218).Youcanalso
installtwo(2)additionalmodules,whichpermitsyoutoconvertupto24
prewiredsecurityzonestowirelesszones(eachmoduleconvertseight
(8)zones).
IMPORTANT: TheSuperSwitchcannotbeusedtomonitorCarbon

Monoxide(CO)orFiredetectionzonesandtheHardwire
ConversionKitisintendedforindooruseonly.

Mounting the Enclosure to the Wall

Whencompletingthestepsbelow,refertoFigure2 "Mountingthe
EnclosuretotheWall"onpage2.
Tomounttheenclosuretothewall:
1 ChoosealocationwithinRFrangeoftheControlPanel.Beforeyou
begin,ensurethemountinglocationisfreeofelectricalwiresand
plumbingsystemsbeforedrillingintothewall.
2 Temporarilyremovetheenclosuredoorbyliftingthecoverupand
pushingitbackuntilthedoorshingepinsdisengage.
3 Usingthefour(4)keyholeslotsasatemplate,markthelocationof
thefour(4)mountingholesatthetopofthekeyholeslots.Ensure
thattheenclosurewillbelevel.
4 Removetheenclosurefromthewallanddrill3/16starterholesfor
thescrewsatthefour(4)markedlocations.
5 Pusheachofthewallanchorsintothedrilledholes,ensuringthe
wallanchorheadsareflushwiththewall.
6 Screwtwo(2)ofthePhillipsheadscrewsintothebottomwall
anchors,leavingtheheadsexposed.
Donotscrewtheseinalltheway.
7 PullthecordfortheGroundedPluginTransformerthroughoneof
theaccessholesorknockoutinthebackoftheenclosure.
8 Pullthewiresforallofthewiredsensorsthroughtheenclosures
accessholesand/orknockoutasneeded.
9 Withtheenclosureinplace,insertthetwo(2)screwheadsintothe
topwallanchors.
Ensurethescrewheadsareattheupperendofthekeyholeslots.
Thentightenbothscrews.
10 Lifttheenclosureandinsertthescrewheadsintothelowerkeyhole
slots.
11 Slidetheenclosuredownwardssothescrewheadsareattheupper
endofthekeyholeslots.
12 Ensurethattheenclosureislevel.
13 Tightenthescrews.
14 Continuewith"MountingthePowerSupplyBoardintheEnclosure"
onpage2.

2 Affixtheplasticwallbrackettotheupperrightcornerofthe
enclosure.Seeposition3inFigure4 MountingtheSuperSwitchin
theEnclosure.
NOTE: Ifinstallingmorethanone(1)SuperSwitchmodule,

mounteachplasticwallbracketverticallyasshowninFigure
4.Theenclosurecanhouseamaximumofthree(3)modules.

Switch)tosecurethemoduletotheinsidetheenclosure.
SlidethebackplateoftheSuperSwitchdownwardsoverthe
mountingstubsonthefaceoftheplasticwallbracket.
ToremovetheSuperSwitchbackplatefromtheplasticwall
bracket,slidethebackplateinanupwardsdirectiontoreleaseit
fromthebracketsmountingstubs.

2 Affixtheboardtothelowerrightcorneroftheenclosure.
NOTE: Forsafety,ensurethattheboardisnotcoveringthewiring

11 Connecttheplugintransformer(included)intoanunswitched

walloutlet.
12 Preparetosecurethetransformertotheoutletasfollows:

Forastandardwalloutlet,screwthetransformertotheoutlet.
Thescrewisincludedwiththeplugintransformer.
OR
Foradecorawalloutlet,affixthedoublesidedadhesivetape
tothetransformer.Thenadherethetransformertotheoutlet.

9b ConnecttheSpadeLugstothePowerSupplyGroundand12V
wirestothecorrespondingQuickDisconnectConnectorson
theSuperSwitchwires.TheSuperSwitchshouldalreadybe
connectedtothebackupbattery.
9c Connectthe16.5VACleadsforthetransformertothe16.5V
PowerSupply.

NOTE: Toavoidpotentialdamagetothetransformerand

connecteddevices,measurethetransformersoutputvoltage
beforeconnectingittothePowerSupplyBoard.
IMPORTANT: Toavoidnuisancelowbatteryindicatorsfrom

connectedzones,alwayspowerupthebatterybefore
connectingACpower.Ifyouexperienceanissue,see
TroubleshootingtheLowBatteryAlert.

Troubleshooting the Low Battery Alert

Ifalowbatteryalertappears:
1 UnplugthetransformertopowerdownthePowerSupply.
2 Removeallconnectionsfromthebattery.
3 Testthebatterysvoltagewithabatterylifetestmeter(not
multimeter).
4 Ifthebatteryisfine,rewiretheSuperSwitch.
5 AfterrewiringtheSuperSwitch,reconnectthebattery
connections,connectpowertoTerminal2ontheSuperSwitch,
andthenpluginthetransformer.
NOTE: Toclearthelowbatteryalert,youmayneedtoopenand

closeallofthezonesortoreboottheControlPanel.Toreboot
thepanel,gototheInstallerToolbox,pressSystem
Configuration,andthepressEndatthequestionscreen.
WhentheSummaryofSystemConfigurationscreenappears,
ensuretheSaveChangesboxisselected.ThenpressExit.
NOTE: Allofthegroundwiresmustbegroupedtogetherand

connectedtothegroundportoftheSuperSwitch.

Installing an Enclosure Door Lock

Theremovablecoverontheplasticwallmount
enclosureisequippedwithanknockoutthat
acceptstheModelH208LockKitfromLinear
LLC.Thisletsyouinstallanoptionalkeylock.
Toinstalltheoptionallock:
1 Temporarilyremovetheenclosuredoor.
2 Locatetheknockoutforthelock.Thisis
locatedinthecenteratthebottomofthe
enclosuredoor.
3 Carefullyremovetheknockoutfromthe
enclosuredoorusingapunchtool.
4 AssemblethedoorlockasdescribedintheH208OwnersManual
(PN:221963A).

Installing a Tamper Switch on the Enclosure

Youcaninstallanoptionalwiredsurfacemountcontact(notprovided)
fromathirdpartymanufacturertoactasanalarmcontactfor
protectingtheenclosure.Iftheenclosurescoverisopened,thealarm
willbeactivated.
Toinstallatamperswitchontheenclosure,usethefollowingasa
guideline:
1 Followthemanufacturersinstructionstomounttheswitchtothe
insidesurfaceofthewallmountenclosure.
2 Placethemagnetontheremovabledoorusingdoublesidedtape
oradhesive.
3 RoutetheHIsidewirefromthesurfacemountcontacttoany
availablezoneterminalontheSuperSwitch.RoutetheLOsideto
theGND.
4 Replacetheenclosuredoor.Afterconnectingpowertothekit,you
willneedtoprogramthetamperswitchintotheControlPanel.To
learnhowtoprogramsensorsintotheControlPanel,seethe
ControlPanelsInstallationandProgrammingGuide.
