Silence against Violence is a sin

There is a famous saying that He who does not bellow the violence and
oppression even has the tongue makes himself the accomplice of
oppressor and tyrants . It is also said that It is impossible to
remain silent in the face of tyranny with, by this very act of
silence, becoming an agent of that tyranny. Infact the silence
becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out against the
tyrannies. To remain silent is simply means to support the oppressor
it always encourages the tormentor. When a person keep mum after
witnessing a crime and violence against his fellow beings infact he
paves the way of this violence for himself in the future. Qateel
Shifai a famous Urdu poet rightly said Dunya main us sa bhe munafiq
nahe Qateel Jo Zulm to sehta hai Baghawat nahe krta Infact it is worst
kind of hypocrisy that an individual face tyranny, violence and
oppression in the hands of powerful but fails to muster courage to
speak about it. It is tantamount to strengthen that oppression and
tormentor. Silence is extremely dangerous as it ingrains the seeds of
slavery. In moments of big changes in society, those are the guilty
ones that choose silence over their right to object loudly. Islam
strictly says that if you see the oppressor stop his hand by force.
The holy prophet PBUH said : A person should help his brother, whether
he is an oppressor or is being oppressed. If he is the oppressor, he
should prevent him from continuing his oppression, for that is helping
him. If he is being oppressed, he should be helped to stop the
oppression against him. At another place Holy prophet PBUH said :
Helping an oppressor is from the gravest of disasters; people should
not imitate an oppressor and must prevent him and make him realise the
wrong that he is doing; if people assist the oppressor or do not speak
against him then they will not get to drink from the fountain of the
Prophet . Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiqu R.A said I have heard the Messenger
of Allah saying When people see an oppressor but do not prevent him
from (doing evil), it is likely that Allaah will punish them all.'
[Abu Daawood and At-Tirmithi] One should prevent the oppressor
physically if possible, and this responsibility is greater with
respect to the rulers and those in authority. If one cannot stop the
oppressor physically, then he should do it verbally. Thus it is clear
that if someone does not raise his voice against violence, he commits

a crime. In any society where people remain quite about the rampant
oppression and violence, such a society seals its fate in those
nations that have got destroyed before it. Perveen Shakir another
prolific urdu poetess writes Zulm Sehna bhe to Zalim he Hamayat thehra
Khamshi bhe hue to pusht panahi ki tarah Thus it is most important to
speak against even a small or minute oppression because with the
passage of time such oppression increase to a greater extent and
become rampant in a society thus it is of utmost importance that one
should speak and raise his voice against how small or minute tyranny
it is. Because one act of oppression gives rise to another act and
thus it kicks off a chain of such events. Thus remaining silence on
oppression, violence, coercion and tyrannies is a great crime and the
one who remains quite is a greater criminal than the one who commits
the crime because by remaining quiet he encourages a tormenter to
continue it.
