GENERAL DESCRIPTION

HERCULES 5000 AR 144 is , at the state of the art, the best on the market!
Completely Solid State, it mounts six 1250W RF pallets for a total power of 7500 W. Indeed, we limited it to 5000 5500 W in order to
guarantee a low intermodulation, a greater linearity and, last but not least, not under- load operation!.
Starting from the Power Supply, the choice was mandatory (looking for small size and high performance): we used three Switching Power
Supplies, 3 KW each. This allowed us to supply the Amplifier both in Single-phase (230 Volt) and Three-phase (common neutral), these
power supplies have an high performance ( 94% ).
Rf Section consists of 6 Amplifier Devices ( AMP 1000 AR 144 ) able to provide 1250 W at full speed (as Freescale datas). We reduced the
operating power in order to grant an excellent linearity and a long performance of the Device (MRFE6VP61K25H), the coupling among the
Pallets is granted by Wilkinson couplers properly realized for continuous service.
Input is coupled with a three-way Adder with FR4 support. On each bank (2 Banks composed of three Pallets) the Output is added with a
three-way Coupler on Teflon support with three 50 Balancing resistors.
The two high power RF Outputs are then added with an adequate Teflon Coupler with thickness 3.2mm, properly realized for continuous
service. The output is connected to a well-dimensioned Low Pass Filter that grants an excellent Spectral Cleaning.
A proper Directional Coupler provides the correct indication of the Direct and Reflected Power.
A powerful Microprocessor controls in real time and processes all the operating parameters in order to prevent the Equipment from extreme
conditions.
The Cooling of pallets is granted by a copper base with thickness 9.5 mm directly connected to the Amplifier Mosfet. This support is fixed
through eight screws to a High Performance Radiator (as the ones used for TV apparatus). Between the Copper Base and the Radiator, a layer of
Conductive Paste directly transfers the heat.
Two High Performance Fans take away the heat due to the operation of the System. The Microprocessor controls also the temperature and, in
the case of damage of one of the two Fans, the System will be blocked avoiding damages to the RF Section.
All the Equipment is contained in a 4 Units Rack with depth of about 70 cm; the internal shielding is granted by proper EMI filters that
insulate the RF Section from the Microprocessor Functioning.
This brief description wants to show the realization and projecting of this Solid State Apparatus, created for Continuous Service at Full Speed!
