A message from
Allan Rich
Sid Maurer is the first
painter in the history of art who
has created over 150 paintings of
the great personalities of his own
time. I have championed Sidney
Randolph Maurer as a major
easel and pop artist for more than
fifty years. As the former owner
and president of Allan Rich
Galleries at 787 Madison Ave in
New York City, I continually
exhibited and sold Mr. Maurers
work to major collectors during my
11 years in the art business.
Upon my retirement from
the art world, I became a collector
of fine art. I continued to collect
Mr. Maurers work even after
tragic events stopped him from
painting during the 1980s. While
preparing for an upcoming show
at a major New York City gallery,
vandals broke into his studio and
destroyed more than seventy
works of art. As a result, Mr.
Maurer suffered mental health
issues that eventually provoked
physical health issues making it
impossible for him to hold a brush
in his hand.

Fortunately, many of
Maurers friends intervened with
encouragement and financial help
to relocate him to the suburbs of
Atlanta where members of his
family had taken up residence
years before. There, in the early
1990s, he began to recover and
resumed painting.
I have continued buying
Mr. Maurers incredible works of
art, many of which I have donated
to various museums, universities,
and hospitals which agreed to
exhibit the works for a minimum of
two years. Donation recipients
include the UCLA Museum,
Cedars Sinai Hospital, the Cal
State Northridge Museum, and
the celebrated City of Hope
hospital.
During the past decade,
Mr. Maurers work has increased
in market value more than three
hundred percent (300%). His
painting of me appears on the
front cover of my recent book, A
Leap from the Method. In
addition, he created all of the
portraiture that appears in the
book.
Sincerely,
Allan Rich
