Background and Significance

MICE business is one of tourism which can bring more than 500,000 overseas

tourists to Thailand. The tourists in this group usually have more spending than others.

Therefore, MICE business can earn high income and benefits to Thailand, both the

benefits which the value can be calculated and cannot be calculated in an exact amount of

money.

Thailand has long been regarded as a dream leisure travel destination, it is also

one of the worlds most favored destinations for the business and convention travelers. In

a relatively short space of time, Thailand Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and

Exhibitions (or MICE) sector has built an exemplary track record in hosting conferences

and exhibitions of global significance. Thailand is increasingly the venue of choice for

prestigious global events, beating off fierce competition not only from Asia, but globally

too.

There are many reasons for this, and below are just a few of the key ingredients

which have contributed to the phenomenal growth in Thailand’s international MICE

profile over the past few years.

Thailand’s MICE sector

In today’s volatile world, the global market for meetings continues to thrive and

expand, reaching new levels of sophistication. The Asian MICE industry continues to

outpace global growth, demonstrating the region s versatility in integrating with the

world’s economy. The deregulation of air travel has led to a boom in mobility across the

region, and new, world-class venues are set to open at an increasing pace over the next

few years; in Bangkok alone, over 5,800 new four- and five-star hotel rooms will come

online by 2010.

In line with these global and regional trends, Thailand itself has enjoyed double-

digit growth in its meetings sector in recent years. Thailand is anticipating and addressing

global industry needs, and has emerged as a highly competitive, globally preferred

business meeting destination. Thailand MICE industry grew by 20% a year for the past

four years, and last year earned almost US$ 1.6 billion in foreign exchange earnings.

Proven with the potential and growth in 2008

The 2007 Statistics Report of the International Association Meetings Market by

ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association), it indicated that Thailand tops

the ranking tables with the highest number of international MICE delegates among the

ASEAN countries.

In terms of the number of exhibitions space sold in Thailand, the country is

second to none with IMPACT exhibition hall leading the pack, ahead of Singapore with

its large total gross exhibition space. Furthermore, Thailand also secured the number one

position with the highest exhibition revenue in ASEAN ranked by UFI (The Global

Association of the Exhibition Industry).

For 2008, the signals so far indicate increased tourist and MICE visitor arrivals in

line with previous trends. World-class events to be held in Thailand in 2008 include the

2008 Lions Clubs International Convention, ITU Telecom Asia 2008. FESPA Asia

Pacific 2008,IT&CMA/CTW, the Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival (ADFEST 2008), the

7th CNBC Asia Business Leaders Awards and Metalex 2008. A total of 947,600 MICE

visitors are anticipated in 2008, up 19% from 2007, and generating almost US$ 2 billion

in revenue.

Our company Whatever Event Organization Company (WEO) founded in 1999.

Our company provide event service organizer such as meeting and conference, wedding,

exhibition, and party, in theme that customers can choose from us or design it by their

self, whatever theme we will create it for them as the name of our company. Whatever

Event Organization Company provides entire services such as organize without

instruments or with our instruments, organize only or design everything.

Because of today the event use for promote products, man or place so we desire to

satisfy the need of the market. We provide the event by professional staffs and each event

can make the profit for our company because we use the less cost and spend a lot of

knowledge, body and experience for customer satisfaction.

experience from every event that we had set up. Those will improve the knowledge and

able to handing with problem, so we will able to solve the problem while it occurs. There

are many kind of event that we provide and in each event have difference theme.

Therefore while we arrange the event, we have to decide and create the idea to make the

customers satisfy that will get a lot of idea from arranging difference event.

problem. In every event will have the problems and we have to use the idea, the feeling,

WEO Company. Because we have to set up the event by using our team, so we have to

this we will set the accountability for every one that why we have to managing the team

by set the right to the right job therefore we will able to control and reduce the problem in

Nowadays every business we have to do analysis before investing the business because if

Why we do MICE business?

Because MICE business growth every years. You can see today Thailand have

many event and many company use MICE for many reasons sometime. Sometime they

want to promote product present news product, convention with inside organization or

organize with organize and every years many of government dept need to have party

about incentive groups and they spend a lot of money to MICE business. MICE business

is the business that sell idea or creative so we can earn money before invest in each

project. That show we can earn a lot of benefit. If we can make a new idea that relate and

meet customer need by do professional. That is impossible to be lost profit.

In Chiang Rai many of event such as flower show, yearly tradition, convention,

street walk market but less MICE company. We think about this way so we want to

provide in this province and around such as Chiang Mai and Pa-yao possible as possible.

The Whatever Events Organizer Company established on 1999 by the Whatever

Group with the idea of “whatever want, we will create it”. Nowadays there are many of

event occur, in difference event has difference owner so they need something special and

unique on their event. Those why we name our company “Whatever” because what ever

they need we will provide it for them. In the first beginning, the Whatever Events

Before we establish our company, we are the professional organizer in other

company and we are together that we are friend and study at MAE FAH LUANG

University. We are analysis about other problem for establish our company in CHIANG

RAI and we are agree to use “Whatever Organization” to our name that like slogan

“Whatever want, we will create it” that our company does not like other company and

never who like because we are think about new style and understand a problem of

customer that we pass in this job and we have more experience in organize the event.

The reason we establish our organization in CHIANG RAI because we were been

stay in CHIANG RAI before and when CHIANG RAI have an exhibition of province,

they hire organizer in other local that it make to lose more money. We can see CHIANG

RAI is doesn’t have organizer company so we let establish event organize company in

this province for respond the customer need in CHIANG RAI and nearly province.The

Whatever Events Organizer Company has a office located in Chaing rai. In the

beginning we organized the event in the North of Thailand.

We don’t have cost to begin the company so we go to borrow from Bangkok

Bank 1,000,000 baht in rate 9 baht per month by use our company to stand security so we

must make a lot of profit and make customer loyalty. For today we can make customer

loyalty and they believe in our organization and the last we will make Thailand know

about our company.

Whatever event organizer is the number one in the north of Thailand we make

event form private party to international convention. We concern about timing because

the time is worthy as a result of limit time. We have team profession in computer we

bring new innovation and technology to use in our job.

Low and high season

The season is not the main effect because the concept of event we provide indoor

event only. The effect is logistic by sometime we can say low season is autumn season

because the people think autumn is not comfortable and high season are summer and

winter because summer is the famous season. People like to make event in this season. In

winter is the selling point of CHIANG RAI because it very cold and a lot of travel come.

If this month has no project, how do we do?

It impossible to have no project whole month because many of organization or

government organization have a need to use MICE business at least a time per month for

small event such as meeting, incentive, etc. For big event, maybe twice a year and have a

lot of wedding in CHIANG RAI, we can say every month they have a lot of event.

If we not really have a project, we can use the time for create the game, concept,

show or theme for use in other project and for modern and novel.

Situation Analysis

The event organizer was found in Thailand about 10 years ago. Can see from

many company begin to hire the event organize company help them to present or promote

them product because if they do by themselves, it’s very expensive or lost a lot of cost

and doesn’t have knowledge and experience. The event organization was boom from the

past until now and have a new company was born all the time and have high competition.

Now, many company or people come to participate for event Organization

Company such as Isuzu, Smirnoff, Singha, Jaguar, Toyota, Snack Company, etc. But the

economic situation is let down, so the number of event, party or exhibition are let down.

So we think about the price must be low.

In Chiang Rai, Most of event Organizer Company, they provide wedding planner

service only and have a few companies provide other event service. But the Northern part

of Thailand has a lot of traveler and many companies need to promote them product in

this part.

Contract Hotel

We had contract with 4 five star hotels in Chaing Rai which are Inncome Hotel,

Dusit Island Resort Chiang Rai, Annatara Golden Triangle Hotel and Imperial Golden

Triangle Resort. Those hotels were famous with high service standard. Therefore we

decide to sign the contract with them. Therefore we can reduce cost and make customers

trust and satisfaction because of the name of those hotels.

Business meetings and social functions can be hosted in the ballroom, which can

accommodate up to 700 guests, or in the other two smaller function rooms, seating

between 40 and 70 persons. The wide poolside terrace also provides an exotic venue for

theme parties. Various themes such as 'Lanna Night' (Khan Toke), Hilltribes Village,

Jungle Night or Thai Market can be arranged for events with a difference.

Convention is a big meeting in nature but different with respect to the number of

participants, the usual number of attendants lies between 100 – 10,000 persons.

regional or international level either by international organizations or by the

Event Organizer Company provides to the couples. In each packet couples can choose

whatever they want such as theme, food and beverage, show, studio. We will compute

the rate from what the couples selected.

Emperor Packet

This pack is a big wedding party the couples are as the emperor. There are a lot

of guests come to the wedding. We give them a full decoration and take care of every

detail such as food and beverage, invite the guests, provide waiter and bartender.

The Whatever Event Organizer Company had contract with 4 five star hotels in

Chaing Rai which are Inncome Hotel, Dusit Island Hotel, Annatara Golden Triangle

Hotel and Imperial Hotel. Those hotels were famous with high service standard.

Therefore we decide to sign the contract with them. Therefore we can reduce cost and

make customers trust and satisfaction because of the name of those hotels.

Nowadays technology is very importance and it can improve us to work easy and

high standard quality. With the high technology it can be the choice for the customers to

employ us. Therefore we stick with technology and keep to upgrade our martial such as

Hologram, floor interactive.

We used staff that had train and be expert in each job directly. Therefore during

working everyone had fewer problems , when the problem occur everyone able to handle

with any problem but in some problem the staff will ask to GM or upper level employee

and when we use them we transport by Nim Sea Seng. This can help us reduce cost and

time. Because if we have own equipments, we do not have rental them from out source

We had only 8 staffs that are work directly with the company. So when we have

to create the big project we must hire outsource worker therefore we can not control

The finance are going along with the economic, so now a day Thailand are
meet the economic crisis, so the price of equipments, supplies, etc are expensive and
people are aware about the cost, so we couldn’t gain a lot of profit enough.
First we must to accept the economic crisis that we can’t change but we
can reduce the cost what we use and try to use the supplies to be utilize and adapt to the
concept as possible for reduce our financial risk.
- Employees/staffs perception, cognition, attitude.
These problems are very important because they are the main power of our
company. If they don’t like to work or have a bad attitude, our projects are not run
smoothly and successful.
We will solve this problem by distribute data or news to every one, pay
appropriate compensation, make them want to go along with company.
- Contracts.
The contracts and our customer always have some mistake with
understand of customer and it will make some conflict with customer. Some time the
customer use GAP of contract to take advantage our company and it will made conflict
interest in agreement contract

This is the important part that effect to company because the wrong
communication will make some biggest mistake to the company and the lack of

out the best, so the customer won’t come to our company too.

crisis, so people are very sensitive about this issue and we have to organize the project to

Labor Protection Act of 1998
Section 5 In this Act:
"Boss" shall mean a person who agrees to accept an employee for work in return for a
wage and shall also mean

 (1) A person who has been assigned to work on behalf of an employer;


 (2) Where a boss has legal personality, "boss" shall also mean the persons who
are authorized to act on behalf of such a boss and the persons who are assigned by
persons authorized to act on behalf of such a boss to act on their behalf.
 (3) Where the operator of a business has contracted out the supervision of work
and payment of wages, or has assigned any person to recruit employees for work,
other than an employment service, such that the work is a part of the entire
production or business which is under the responsibility of the business operator,
the business operator shall be deemed to be the boss of the said employees.

Section 17 An employment agreement shall terminate upon a date specified in an


employment agreement for such termination without need for advance notice.

Section 118 A boss shall pay compensation to an employee whose employment


has been terminated as follows:

 (l)An employee who has worked consecutively for a full one hundred and twenty
days but less than one full year shall be paid not less than thirty days the last wage

rate or not less than the wages for the last thirty days of work in respect of an
employee who is paid a wage on a piece work basis.
 (2)An employee who has worked consecutively for one full year but not a full
three years shall be paid at least an amount equivalent to ninety days' pay at his or
her most recent wage rate or not less than the wages earned for the last ninety
days of work in respect of an employee who is paid a wage on te basis of piece
work.
 (3)An employee who has worked consecutively for a full three years but not a full
six years shall be paid an amount at least equivalent to one hundred and eighty
days' pay at his or her most recent wage rate, or not less than the wages earned for
the last one hundred and eighty days of work in respect of an employee who is
paid a wage on the basis of piece work.
 (4)An employee who has worked consecutively for a full six years but not a full
ten years shall be paid an amount equivalent to at least two hundred and forty
days' pay at his or her most recent wage rate or not less than the wages earned for
the last two hundred and forty days of work in respect of an employee who is paid
a wage on the basis of piece work.
 (5)An employee who has worked consecutively for a ten full years or more shall
be paid an amount equivalent to at least three hundred days at his or her most
recent wage rate, or not less than the wages for the last three hundred days of
work in respect of an employee who is paid a wage on the basis of piece work.

Section 119 A boss need not pay compensation to an employee whose


employment is terminated in any of the following cases:

 (1)Dishonesty in carrying out duties or deliberate commission of a crime against


the boss.
 (2)Intentionally causing the boss to suffer damage.
 (3)Negligence, causing the boss to suffer serious damage.
 (4)Violation of the work rules and regulations or the boss' lawful and legitimate
regulations or orders, where the boss had already issued a written warning, except
that in serious cases the boss need not issue such a warning. A letter of warning
shall be enforceable for not more than one year calculated from the date on which
the employee committed the offence.

 (5)Abandonment of post for three consecutive working days, regardless of


whether there was a holiday in between or not, for no appropriate reason.
 (6) Imprisonment under a final judgement ordering imprisonment, unless the
sentence was for an offence which was committed out of negligence or a petty
offence.

Section 123 When a boss violates or is not in compliance with the requirement to
pay any form of compensation under this Act and the employee who claims to have a
right to such compensation wishes to ask the Labour Inspection Officer to proceed in
accordance with this Act, the employee shall have the right to submit a petition to the
Labour Inspection Officer of the locality in which the employee is working or in which
the boss is domiciled in the form prescribed by the Director-General.
Section 124 When a petition is submitted under Section 123, the Labour
Inspection Officer shall conduct an inquiry into the facts and issue an order within sixty
days from the date of receipt of the petition.
Section 125 After the Labour Inspection Officer has issued the order under
Section 124, if the boss, the employee or the legitimate heirs of a deceased employee are
not satisfied with that order, the case may be brought to court within thirty days as
calculated from the date of notification of the order.
The laws that show have to follow and agree with that because Department of
labor also set up the labor law for both of employee and employer know they right and
reduce the risk of HR factor

and doesn’t have knowledge and experience. The event organization was boom from the

past until now and have a new company was born all the time and have high competition.

make customers trust and satisfaction because of the name of those hotels.

Many of customer want the best of organizer, so they want a professional

organizer to set the event we think more of the customer have the limit of

budget but want the biggest, So we have try to optimize the event and budget

in the relate and try to make the customer to meet the satisfaction and come to
