I am a relatively recent recruit to the Athlone Chamber and being involved in the Tourism sector I
regret not having joined it sooner. It has given me a voice through the Chamber not alone at Town
Council level but also at County Council and Regional Tourism briefings etc. This have been an
invaluable asset to me as tourism can be very fragmented from a National perspective with the bigger
and more popular destinations in this country always winning out when it comes to promotional
advertising, funding etc. Coming from a tourism county myself, I think Athlone in the heart of the
midlands has way more to offer than the general public realise and I have no doubt the Chamber will be
a help to me and a great many others in promoting our fabulous facilities in this locality.
