Brochure
Description: A folded brochure.
Date: July 11, 2015.
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/ Tools: Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
Objectives: Create a brochure to effectivley portray a message.
Process: First I opened a 12 by 4 inch document on indesign. I then placed rulers at
the 4 inch mark and the 8 inch mark to create 3 4 by 4 boxes. I then drew diagonal
lines on the outer boxes to create a guide for my triangular folds. I placed an image
that I took at Yellowstone in one of the triangles and selected my other colors from
the image to create repetition. For the images of the girls on their phones and
the hiker I used the pen tool in Photoshop to cut them out. I then used a text wrap
on both images I placed a white box in the center image of the wood to create a
frame effect before putting text into it. I created the logo in illustrator and placed it
to be on the front of the brochure.

Logos
Description: logo for a buisness
Date: June 6, 2015
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/Tools Used:Adobe Illustrator
Objective: Create a logo for a buisness
Process: This logo is for a company called waterworks. I started by sketching
and designing in illustrator, choosing my favorite then refined it using the critiques of others. I decided to take out the text and leave this logo simple. I created
the gear shape using the transform tool and placed the other shapes on top to
finish the design.

Montage
Description: A spiritual montage blending two images and adding typography.
Date: May 31, 2015
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/ Tools: Adobe Photoshop
Objective: Create a montage portraying a spiritual message.
Process: cropped background image to be 8.5 by 11 inches. used clone stamp to
remove the stripe in the road. Selected the savior then added him to the image. I
added the soft light filter to soften the light on him.
using black paint at 100% opacity I removed the edges to soften the savior into
the image. using black paint at 40% opacity I made the savior appear transparent.
I added the quote to the top left using a simple font and a color selected from the
sky.

Flier
Description: Black and white flier promoting a graduate leadership conference.
Date: May 9, 2015
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/ Tools: Adobe Indesign
Objective: Create an ad for an event
Process: I started by creating a series of sketches before choosing one to be a
guide for my design. I created this design using the Adobe InDesign software. I
used the 70% gray banner to create a contrast making the graduate leadership
conference stand out. I also curved the text around the picture to create a focal
point and attract the eye to the design. The image, logo, and text were provided for
this project.

poster.
Date: May 23, 2015
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/ Tools: Adobe Photoshop
Objective: Add typography to an edited photo to create a message.
Process: First I thought of the message I wanted to convey by sketching then I
Went and took the photo using a Nikon D3300. I opened the image in Photoshop
and adjusted the levels and saturation to create a brighter look to what was a
cloudy day. I also used the clone stamp tool to remove some large sprinklers that
were far off in the background. I used simple rectangles on top of the image to add
a place where the eyes could be drawn to the text. I also used the color picker to
find a color from the sky for the text so that it was not a harsh white.

Webpage
Description: A webpage used to display a logo I created.
Date: June 27, 2015
Course/ Instructor: Comm 130- Cory Kerr
Programs/ Tools: html, css
Objective: design a webpage for a buisness using a logo I created.
Process: I created this webpage using notepad 2. I didnt have any previous experience using css or html so this proved to be a learning experience. It was fun to
learn that you can create designs simply using text. First I put all my content into
the html file to create the text of the page, I then connected a css file that had already been created. At this point I centered the logo at the top to create a stronger
visual appeal. Using photoshop I found the codes for the color within the logo and
placed them into the css file allowing the webpage to match. I also coded the fonts
to use a sans serif such as ariel as the heading and a serif font such as Georgia as
the body text.
