HDPS is a tightly integrated blend of snapshot, replication and persistent copies that are
application-aware, secure, deduplicated, managed and accessible through a single, unified
platform. This unified approach results in an easy, automated and low-cost data management
solution, which can be employed in a fraction of the time, effort and money required by
separate point products.
The following HDPS modules are available to be licensed standalone:
Global-active
device
Global-active device is a licensed SVOS feature that delivers continuous storage with a zero
RTO and it also simplifies both distributed system design and operations. Global-active
devices are storage volumes that have the ability to have read/write copies of the same data
in two systems or geographic places at the same time. The global-active device feature
synchronously replicates LUNs/volumes between two independent VSP G1000 systems and
present this replicated pair to attached hosts as a single virtual LUN/volume image

FlashCopy SE
(HCFCSE)
Provides an in-system solution for data protection that is IBM mainframe compatible. It combines
snapshots and virtual data management to create logical point-in-time (PiT) copies. Once a
FlashCopy SE source-target volume relationship is established, HCFCSE enables thinprovisioned storage capacity that is allocated and utilized only when a change has occurred
within the source volume. As backup copies are made to the target volume, storage resources
are consumed only on an as-needed basis, depending on the amount of changed data.

Hitachi Local Replication delivers convenient and cost-effective full volume data cloning for
fast, point-in-time data copies. Offering includes full copies of Hitachi ShadowImage
Replication and Hitachi Thin Image snapshot software solutions. Combine with Hitachi remote
replication software to create alternate copies of production data for test and development
and disaster recovery at a remote site.
Hitachi Remote
Replication (for
Enterprise or
Midrange
Systems)
Combines Hitachi TrueCopy and Hitachi Universal Replicator (HUR) solutions to enable
remote data protection at up to four data centers. With TrueCopy, achieve synchronous
immediate replication, at a recovery point objective (RPO) of 0/near-0, from a primary data
center to a second data center up to 300km away. Hitachi Universal Replicator with advanced
remote data replication functions, such as 3 data center configuration capabilities for open
systems and IBM z/OS mainframes. Deployed implementations can be configured with or
without delta resync, which ensures replication consistency for the highest level of remote
copy data integrity at any distance. Solution also enables Hitachi Universal Replicator 4x4,
along with extended consistency group support for z/OS.
