Archipenko: A Modern Legacy Exhibition
Jacksonville, Fla.The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens presents Archipenko: A Modern
Legacy, an exhibition highlighting Alexander Archipenkos modern abstractions of the human
figure. The exhibit will be on display January 29 through April 17, 2016 and will feature 50
sculptures, mixed media reliefs, and works on paper. Examples from the artists archives,
including photographs of sculptures, sketches, installation views, and patent drawings for his
machine Archipentura, will also be on display and offer an unprecedented view into the artists
creative process and philosophy.
A Modern Legacy spans Archipenkos entire career and showcases objects from both major
museum collections as well as his private holdings, such as the Frances Archipenko Gray
Collection. This is a major retrospective exhibition of the life and work of Alexander
Archipenko, whose distinctive creations remain important today. Find a list of our events and

Archipenko: A Modern Legacy was organized by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC,
