Over the last two decades, autonomous driving has been considered as one of the
three big challenges in the automotive industry, together with vehicle connectivity
and electric vehicles. The relevance of the autonomous driving relies on several
reasons that all together support the belief that realizing this kind of technology with
appropriate affordability will create a large social impact. Such a technology can
increase road safety, becoming a big leap forward to reduce in road fatalities.
Furthermore, autonomous vehicles can lead to a more steady flow of traffic, which
represents a step towards the reduction of fuel consumption and consequently
CO2 emissions. Another important benefit that this technology can bring is
increasing driver comfort, new degrees of freedom for drivers, enhancing mobility
for the elderly and making the time employed for driving more efficient. This is a
coordinate project and Antonio is the IP of both the coordinate project (TRA201129454-C03-00-00) and the subproject (TRA2011-29454-C03-00-01).

The PhD would be framed in the funded project AGL2012-31924 entitled: Two new
strategies to improve the adpatition of piglets to weaning: the optimization of Zn
status and the exo-polysaccharides from fermentation of green olives.
