WEEK 2015 National Science and Technology Week is an annual festival of science that aims to raise the profile and increase the public understanding of public appreciation to science, innovation, engineering and technology. This event also has the role to maintain and to improve our societys economy and environment. Having its theme Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating For Global Competitiveness , instructors and students around the nation from different science academic institutions contribute to National Science Week celebrations by organizing and participating in a diverse range of activities and events. It provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Filipino scientists to the world of knowledge. It also aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits among the general public, and to encourage younger people to become fascinated in the world of science which we live in. Filipinos with their capabilities in technological readiness is the ultimate reason for the development of our nation. Likewise, it also increase the ability of our countrys level of competitiveness in the whole world. Moreover, creative outputs among others, knowledge workers, large amount of research and innovation linkages are the certain variables for measuring the innovativeness of our country. This event for me, shows how the government and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) gave their efforts to meet the international ceiling for the country to become competitive in the area of science and technology. Having their hands full in trying to fulfill their mission. Government and DOST organize this kind of event. And, for me, it uses human resources to maximize potentials and to nurture talents within science academic institutions as the next wave of science and technology enthusiasts for building Philippines as a terrific science nation.
Most of all, I, being an engineering student that is also involved in science,
admires this kind of activity because it promotes the sharing of knowledge, innovations and future plans for the next level of development of our society. Furthermore, as an aspiring engineer, this event inspires me to innovate things around me and to create my own research and prototype that could be recognize not only here in our country but also into the whole world that could probably contribute to the better living of everyone. I can say that I really learned a lot of things in the exhibits and seminars of the National Science and Technology Week of this year.
