Hey, I find there is a problem in Isometric generation in Autodesk plant design suite. I
modelled a line and generated a Isometric, it spliting into 3 drawings, even after I
tried with advanced option to force into 1 sheet. Because of this problem, we hold
the purchase of software.

One other thing to mention; you might try a larger title block size. Such as a D size
sheet as opposed to the default.

Did you check all of the parts and connectors (welds, bolt kits, etc) to make sure they
are assigned the same line number tag?
Just as a test, try this:
1. Select all of the compoents in your pipe run
2. Look in the properties palette
3. Check "Line Number Tag"
It should not show *VARIES*
If it does, then you have at least one or more components in the pipe run that is
assigned to a different tag (or unassigned) causing the Iso to split the parts out on
separate sheets.
One of the recent updates has been the "Add to Selection" feature. This allows you to
select one part in the pipe run, then select all parts that are assigned to the same
number (whether they are connected or not) This is very useful for troubleshooting
line number tag assignments.

AutoCAD Plant 3D: Production Iso creates generates

more drawings than Quick Iso for the samepipe model
Nov 01 2014

Applies to AutoCAD Plant 3D 2012, AutoCAD Plant 3D 2013, AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014, and AutoCAD
Plant 3D 2015

Issue:
Production Iso creates generates many more drawings than Quick Iso for the same line
number.

Solution:
To workaround this issue you should do the following:
1.
2.
3.

Select the entire pipe model,

Update the Line Number tag to something different.
Generate a test Production Iso to confirm the iso drawing/s are generated
correctly.
4.
If required, select the pipe model again and set the line number back to
the original.

Advanced Iso Creation Options Dialog Box

Specifies advanced settings for creating Iso drawings.

Export Settings
Create PCF on Iso Creation

Create piping component files (PCF) when creating Iso drawings.

Export Tables on Iso Creation

Create data files from the tables that are created. Tables must exist in the title block to be
exported.
Report Export Format

Sets the format of the table data file (text or Excel).

Advanced Settings and Overrides

Ignore Break Points from Model

Ignore break point markers.

Ignore Iso Annotations from Model

Ignore Iso message and location markers.

Reverse Iso Start and End Points

Assume the opposite flow direction for the line to reverse sheet order. Flow direction is not a
property in the model. An arbitrary (but consistent) flow direction is assumed that you can
reverse.
Override Default North Arrow Direction

Ignores the North arrow direction specified in the title block.

Drawing Congestion Splitting

Level of Congestion to Split Iso at

Specifies a preference for the number of objects allowed in an Iso drawing sheet compared to
the number of sheets generated. Setting a High congestion level will result in fewer sheets,
with more objects on each sheet.

Override Iso Splitting

Force Iso onto One Sheet

Creates a single sheet regardless of the resulting congestion, if possible. If this cannot be
done, the iso will split rather than fail to generate.
Split Iso when Property Changes

Changes sheets when any of the specified model property values change.

Override Location
Offset location

Adds X and Y values to objects in the isometric drawing. You can enter negative values (for
example: -10000).
Offset rotation

Rotates objects in the isometric drawing. You can enter negative values (for example: -90).
Offset rotation is calculated before offset location

How to enforce AutoCAD Plant 3D to get as less

isometric sheets as possible
May 05 2015

Applies to AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014, AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015, and AutoCAD Plant 3D 2016

Issue:
If there is a more complex piping model, multiple isometric sheets will be created. How to
enforce AutoCAD Plant 3D to get as less isometric sheets as possible.

Solution:
Here are the parameter where you can take influence to get less isometric sheets:

Paper size of the iso.dwt. The greater the more match on a sheet
Rotating of the north arrow of the iso.dwt
Project configuration: Switch to the node "Isometric DWG Settings Default Settings". Set here the "Level of congestion to split Iso at" on
maximum.
Isoconfig.xml: node "LayoutOptimization - SplitOptimization". Set here a
bigger value for "SheetTargetFitness" and "MaxComponents"

Splitting by a property change:

Add a new property to the "Pipe Run Component"-class, for example
"Section"
o
Fill in the model this property: Make connected sections by using
this new property:
o

Switch in the project setup to the node "Isometric DWG Settings / Default
Settings" and check "Split drawing on property change"
Click "Add property" and select the new property "Section". Check this
property
