Exercise 1: Configuring Hardware Inventory
Task 1: Enable Hardware Inventory on Client Settings

1. On the configuration manager server na-sccm-01 login with dnosi\administrator /


Pa$$w0rd

2. On the Configuration Manager server,na-sccm-01, right click on Start and click Search

3. Type Configuration Manager and click on Configuration Manager Console

4. On the SCCM Console, click in Administration workspace, click Client Settings. Ritgh
click on NOSiAcademy Client Device Settings and click Properties

5. Click Hardware Inventory and click Schedule Choose 2 next to Run every field and
click OK.

6. Click Set Classes and click Filter by Category and choose Windows Clients & Servers
Classes

7. Select BitLocker, Boot Configuration and Computer System Product from the list.
Click OK twice.

Task 2: Force the Configuration Manager policy on the Client machine

1. Login on the na-cli-01, with dnosi\Administrator and Pa$$w0rd

2. From Desktop, right click in Start and click Control Panel

3. Double click on Configuration Manager icon to open it

4. Click Actions tab and select Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle, and then
click Run Now.

5. Click OK

6. Select Hardware Inventory Cycle and click Run Now

7. Click OK twice

Task 3: Check Hardware Inventory on the client

1. Back to na-sccm-01, on the Configuration Manager console, click Assets and


Compliance workspace and click Device Collections. Right click on All Systems
collection and select Show Members.

2. Right click on the na-cli-01 and click Start and then Resource Explorer

3. Expand Hardware and notice that the new Classes BitLocker, Boot Configuration and
Computer System Product are listed

Exercise 2: Configuring Software Inventory

Task 1: Enable Software Inventory on Client Settings

1. On the Configuration Manager server, na-sccm-01, logon with dnosi\administrator /


Pa$$w0rd

2. On the Configuration Manager server,na-sccm-01, right click on Start and click Search

3. Type Configuration Manager and click on Configuration Manager Console

4. On the SCCM Console, click in Administration workspace, click Client Settings. Ritgh
click on NOSiAcademy Client Device Settings and click Properties

5. Click Software Inventory and click Schedule Choose 5 next to Run every field and
click OK.

6. Click Set Types

7. Click in the New icon


type *.log in the dialog box and click Set. In the Path
Properties type C:\Program Files and click OK twice

8. Click OK twice

Task 2: Force the Configuration Manager policy on the Client machine

1. Login on the na-cli-01, with dnosi\Administrator and Pa$$w0rd

2. From Desktop, right click in Start and click Control Panel

3. Double click on Configuration Manager icon to open it

4. Click Actions tab and select Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle, and then
click Run Now.

5. Click OK

6. Select Software Inventory Cycle and click Run Now

7. Click OK twice

Task 3: Check Software Inventory on the client

1. Back to na-sccm-01, on the Configuration Manager console, click Assets and


Compliance workspace and click Device Collections. Right click on All Systems
collection and select Show Members.

2. Right click on the na-cli-01 and click Start and then Resource Explorer

3. Expand Software, click File Details and notice that the file .log appear listed

Exercise 1: Preparing the Site for Asset Intelligence

Task 1: Enable Audit Policy in the GPO

1. Logon on the Domain Controller Server, na-dc-01, with dnosi\administrator /


Pa$$w0rd

2. On the Server Manager, click Tools and click Group Policy Management

3.

Expand dnosi.cv. Right click on Default Domain Policy and click Edit

4. Expand Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local


Policies\Audit Policy and right click on Audit Logon events and select Properties

5. Click to check the following options: Define these policy settings and Success and
click OK.

6. Close Group Policy Management


Task 2: Force the GPO on the client machine

1. Login on the na-cli-01, with dnosi\Administrator and Pa$$w0rd

2. From Desktop, right click in Start and click Command Prompt(Admin)

3. Type gpupdate /force and Enter

4. Close Command Prompt.

Exercise 2: Configuring Asset Intelligence

Task 1: Enable Asset Intelligence Reporting Classes

1. On the Configuration Manager console, click in the Assets and Compliance workspace,
right click Asset Intelligence and select Edit Inventory Classes

2. Select the following options (image below). Click OK.

3. Click Yes

Task 2: Add Asset Intelligence Synchronization Point

1. On the Configuration Manager console, click in the Administration workspace,


expand Site Configuration and click Servers and Site System Roles

2. Right click \\na-sccm-01.dnosi.cv and select Add Site System Roles

3. Click Next

4. Click Next

5. Select Asset Intelligence synchronization point and click Next

6. Accept the defaults and click Next

7. Accept the defaults and click Next

8. Click Next

9. Click Close

Task 3: View Asset Intelligence Information from the Console

1. On the Configuration Manager Console, click Assets and Compliance workspace and
click Asset Intelligence. Notice that under Catalog Synchronization, the Asset
Intelligence is Enabled and the Synchronization was Successfully.

2. Scroll down and review the information about the Inventoried Software Status

Task 1: Enable Software Metering on the Client Settings

1. On the configuration manager server na-sccm-01 login with dnosi\administrator /

3. Type Configuration Manager and click on Configuration Manager Console

5. Click Software Metering and click Schedule Choose 2 next to Run every field and
click OK twice.

Task 2: Create Software Metering Rule

1. On the SCCM Console, click in Assets and Compliance workspace, ritgh click Software
Metering and select Create Software Metering Rule

2. Type CalcRule, click Browse and navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and select


calc.exe. Click Open

3. In the Version dialog box type * and click Next

4. Click Next and click Close

Task 3: Configure Software Metering Properties

1. On the SCCM Console, click in Assets and Compliance workspace, ritgh click Software
Metering and select Software Metering Properties

2. Change the value 10 to 5 and 100 to 30

3. Click OK
