2. GLOBAL TRADE - KEY FINDINGS

Despite a dip in exports in 2014, China continued to dominate in the global
monitor trade. In 2014, China exported 43,273 thousand units of monitors
totaling 4,117 million USD, 16% under the previous year. Its primary trading
partner was the U.S., where it supplied 26% of its total monitor exports in
value terms, accounting for 34% of the U.S.'s total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of monitors. Over this period,
exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms, the
difference was less pronounced until 2010, when it became more evident due
to export price growth.
The Netherlands and the U.S. were among the other main global suppliers of
monitors in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were the
Czech Republic (+4% per year) and the Netherlands (+2% per year). These
countries strengthened their positions in the global export structure.
Chinas top 5 trading partners in 2014 were the U.S., the Netherlands, India,
Japan and Singapore, with a combined 56% share of Chinas monitor exports.
The share of India increased (+5 percentage points), while the share of the
Netherlands illustrated negative dynamics (-6 percentage points).
