Purpose
This guide provides information on the 9500 MPR-A R5.1.0 software installation and
upgrade procedures.
9500 MPR R5.1.0 is addressing both the ETSI and ANSI markets. This document
provides instructions for installing/upgrading the 9500 MPR-A R5.1.0 software. The
9500 MPR-A R5.1.0 customer release notes describes features, any known issues and
workarounds if applicable for the release. Please refer to 9500MPR-E Customer Release
Notes for ETSI related documentation.
Important note: ETSI modem profiles only support E1 signals and ANSI modem profiles
only support DS1/DS3 signals. Mixed configurations (unless explicitly documented) are
not supported.
The 9500 MPR-E designates ETSI Software and 9500 MPR-e designates the MPT-HC
deployed in a stand-alone mode.
Reason for revision
This revision provides updated build information about the ics02 version of software.
Intended audience
This document is intended for individuals who are responsible for the installation and
upgrade of the 9500 MPR-A R5.1.0 software.
Safety information
For your safety, this document contains safety statements. Safety statements are given at
points where risks of damage to personnel, equipment, and operation may exist. Failure
to follow the directions in a safety statement may result in serious consequences.

MSS1, MSS4 and MSS8 systems with the R5.1.0 software. New systems are normally
delivered with the valid software pre-installed. Reinstallation of the R5.1.0 software is
not necessary unless the user wants to populate both software banks with the latest
software.
Upgrade paths
This section provides information regarding all supported upgrade paths to Release
R5.1.0. For any incremental upgrades follow the upgrade procedure included in the
associated software kit. This procedure does not document the incremental upgrades.

WARNING: Service interruption of up to approximately 10-12 minutes is expected in
this section. If the hop contains ODUs running in Adaptive Modulation mode the traffic

depending upon the release activated, or at a minimum result in unwanted database
rollback. A normal download can be Aborted in order to disable the secondary
