320x240 LCD Display How to get working

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SOLDER AND

UNDERSTAND A BIT ABOUT ELECTRONICS TO
MAKE THESE LCDS WORK
REQUIREMENTS

SED13305 Graphics Controller or RA8835 these controllers are the same.

Soldering Skills you will need to connect the PC Parallel port to the
controller chip

Negative Voltage Generator To get you going, just use 3 x 9 volt batteries in
series and connect as described below.

LCD Data
Data sourced from here - http://www.masoportunidades.com.ar/aviso/4643788-lcddisplay-grafico-320x240-con-backlight-marca-edt-disponible-en-buenos-aires
But here is the data anyway:-

In the diagram above, the LED Backlight connection says connect 24volts DC
Dont, it works off 5Volts just fine.

Connecting up

(TIP as we are going to use a PC to drive the LCD, you can use the 5 volts from the
USB connector to drive the LCD)
1 Connect the LCD Pins to the board as follows (you may have to use the datasheet to
buzz out the connector pins of the graphics driver board if not supplied :SED LCD Controller

Negative Voltage (VEE) Connection

Connect the -27 Volts (negative voltage created by putting 3 x 9 volt batteries in
Series) AFTER you apply the 5Volts to the Display or the contrast wont work
properly. The Positive of the 27 volt battery goes to 0 Volts line and the ve goes to
the VEE pin / 1 leg of the potentiometer.
Now you must wire up a cable from the PC Parallel port as follows (Leave off the
RESET pin and pushbutton and the backlight setup)

THATS THE LCD PART DONE
1 Install LCD Studio
2 go through the setup wizard and setup LCD Studio for use with the SED controller
as follows:-

Click on DESIGN (Top left icon)

Drag a clock onto the display and stretch it out a bit

click on PLAY icon and watch the display show a clock!

If you see nothing, turn the potentiometer to adjust the contrast. If still nothing, disconnect the
-27volts and reconnect then readjust the contrast pot.
Job done!
