Man as an embodied subjectivity

Man as an embodied subjectivity explains the existence of a man through his

body and its connection to the world. This bodily manifestation limits the
capacities of a human and these drawbacks causes a man to question his
purpose in life as to his corporeality. All these questions lead a man to reflect
and eventually answer the question he has to himself WHO AM I.

-

Man as being-in-the-world clarifies that a mans existence is not based solely

on his own physical manifestation and private life. This concept considers
that a mans existence is linked to his world and the people around him with
reference to his subjectivity. Subjectivity allows a man to perceive reality
which enables him to understand his own capabilities and limitations. These
experiences permits a human being to give meaning to his own existence in
the world.

This notion elucidates that a mans existence is associated to the existence of

other human beings as well. Man as being-with-others emphasizes that a
humans existence and survival will only be possible with the presence of
other human beings. A mans behavior, way of thinking and perception about
himself are influenced by his community.

Man as being-with-death
-

This theory explains that a man cannot define death definitely unless he
experiences it personally. Apparently, the meaning of death has never been
definite because a dead man will never tell us something about death for
death will leave him completely silent. Humans will only experience death
from the standpoint of other people approaching deaths inevitable kiss or
the painful familiarity of losing someone close to him.

1. Man as an embodied subjectivity

- The main question asked in man as an embodied subjectivity is who am I?.
As a soon-to-be pharmacist and as an undergraduate of the said career, I,
first and foremost, have to define the meaning of my future vocation before I
start working on my chosen profession. This question will help me recognize
my purpose as a medical worker and delimit my capacities and
responsibilities as a pharmacist as compared to other health personnel.
2. Man as being-in-the-world
- In relation with my major, this concept will help me define the existence of
my future profession in respect of the happenings around the world. The need
for drug experts and resolution of dilemmas in health systems ultimately

generated the profession called pharmacy. Thus, pharmacys existence will

always be connected to the events in our physical realm.
3. Man as being-with-others
- It is undeniable that pharmacists will only manifest in the presence of the
people around us. Pharmacy owes its existence from the need of quality
health service and drug education of humans. Without human beings and
their health necessities, pharmacy will fail to survive in the health profession
strata.
4. Man as being-with-death
- One of the jobs of pharmacists in the medical world is to prolong the life of
sick patients by dispensing the right drugs and educating them to use their
medicines correctly. To prevent the death of a patient is irrefutably one of the
underlying purpose of a pharmacist. Clinical pharmacists are most likely to
witness death because they are the ones who join doctors during in-patient
rounds. Death of their patients and their biased perspective towards death
might have them question their own profession and sooner or later
underestimate their capabilities as a health worker. To witness death is
definitely not a part of their job but is certainly unavoidable and will, one way
or another, make him understand his purpose in the medical sphere.
