A Reaction Paper For The Movie: Untraceable

It was just another day as we go to the ITC room to take up our laboratory class in
computer science subject when our instructor introduced us to the movie called untraceable
which depicts a story about a hacker who used the internet to kill. I was intrigued by that line and
after I watched the movie I know now why it was so intriguing.
At first as I was assessing the movie on what part it commits a violation on the Ten
Commandments of computer ethics, I cant see any since the killer only started with killing a cat.
But then He started to kill a reporter, then He started to violate the ten commandments of
computer ethics where he violated the 1st commandments. Then after some times he started to
use the number of views of the site to kill where he created a torturing device where the more the
views the faster the killing process is. If looking on to the ten commandments of computer ethics,
it violates the 5th commandment where the killer is making the Layman to bear false witness and
also He is making them a killer without them realizing it which is so disturbing to see since some
of the responds are positive. There is also a part on the movie where the killer hacked the
personal computer of the protagonist to get information out of her which is a violation to the 2nd,
3rd, 4th, and 8th commandments which prohibits a person to touch or see any file from other
people. Also the killer used an unknown server or domain to manipulate His site which means
that he is not paying for His site which also violates the 6th commandment since if he buys the
software he used, the domain should be accessible so it is understandable that he did not buy the
software rather he download it or rather he hacked it. Also he violates the 9th commandment
since yes at first it only started with a small views but then it became viral and the worst is that
those who views it are part of the killing of a single person but instead of being alarmed they
rather enjoy watching the live stream from the site which has a social consequence and in a
negative way. Also what is really annoying is in the way he kills where he did not just kill them
privately but publicly showing no respect in those people which he violates the 10th
commandment.

We should learn to follow the commandments because they were made to protect us and
that we should learn to limit ourselves from things that seems right but in reality is wrong. Yes it
seems good because you have free software, you enjoyed bullying and you also learn many
secrets of other people but if we continue to do those things then there will come a time where
we no longer consider ethics as our code of life, and if that day comes we can no longer
distinguish ourselves from other animals who act without any ethical code.
