Course Procedures and Policies:

Class time will consist of lecture/demonstrations and some work time with one-
on-one help. Regular attendance is extremely important. If you must be absent
it is important to contact the instructor or another class member to find out
about assignments. Expect to spend approximately 5-10 hours per week
(typical for a 5-credit course) on homework assignments outside of the
classroom. Due dates will be announced in class. Homework turned in after the
due date will earn significantly reduced points. Homework must be clearly
labelled with assignment name or it will be returned ungraded.

Keep all demos and homework assignments (both hard copy and on disk) until
the end of the quarter. They may be used throughout the class.

Evaluation:

25% Homework Assignments. Due dates will be announced during class.

Additionally, there will be a calendar available,
R:/Logan/CIS236/calendar.docx that will be updated regularly identifying
homework assignments. Assignment must be submitted by the beginning
of the class period on the due date to be considered “on time.” Each
homework assignment is worth up to10 points. Two points per day will be
deducted for assignments submitted late.

50% Graded Exercises. There will be 5 hands-on exercises throughout the

quarter. The lowest grade will be dropped. There will be no make-up
exercises unless arranged with the instructor before the date of the
exercise. An unexpected absence will count as the dropped grade. These
exercises are open-book, open-notes exercises.

25% Final Performance/Theory Test. This is a closed-book test. No notes or

reference materials may be used during this test.

consider issuing an Incomplete. The student is eligible if the student is at least
75 percent through the course, is earning at least a C, and is able to complete
the course by working with the instructor no later than the subsequent quarter.

Financial Aid: Students receiving financial aid should always check with the
Financial Aid Office prior to withdrawing, signing an incomplete contract,
changing to an audit, or receiving an F or V grade in a class.

Academic Honesty: All work is to represent student’s own efforts rather than to
be copied from another. Cheating or plagiarism will result in an F grade for the
