Practiced and effective writer, editor and public presenter. Able to present complex material in a clear,
concise and persuasive manner, tailored for a range of audiences, be it individuals, small groups or
seminar halls.

different countries to audiences with diverse backgrounds.

doctoral theses for several Australian universities and grant proposals for the NHMRC.

• Responsible for the development and successful completion of scientific research projects,
including oversight of staff and budget. Currently managing a program of research with a budget
of > $ 500, 000 (Monash University) and four employees/students.

• Management of independent research projects, collaborative projects with multiple contributors,


and the projects of students and staff members.

• Organisation of conferences and symposia including, most recently, the Annual Conference of the
Australian Society for Biophysics 2009 (Ballarat), a four day catered event with ~100 guests
including 7 international guest speakers.

• Acting as managing editor for a special edition of ‘Frontiers in Bioscience’ (an international
scientific journal), involving the invitation and editing of review articles from ~ 20 leaders in a
particular scientific field.

Leadership/Interpersonal Relations
Adaptive to situational requirements – capable of working effectively as part of a group, or taking the lead.

• Supervision of research teams consisting 2-6 members. Involved leading research projects,
providing technical and theoretical advice; maximising the personal productivity and time
management of group members; conflict management; leading fortnightly progress meetings.

• Leadership skills fostered through leading discussions and classes, demonstrating to undergraduate
science and medical students (Monash University) as well as privately tutoring high school and
tertiary students.

opportunity for early career researchers in Australia, to support my research endeavours for 4
years, including 2 years overseas.
• Speakers’ award winner for best research presentation at Melbourne Protein Group conference

• Awarded national and international travel grants for overseas conference attendance
• Publication of more than 20 research articles in high impact international scientific journals
