The MOH 1 allows a reduction of the high supply temperature of

the boiler/radiator circuit (for example 160 F) to the lower
temperature level required for the floor heating (for example 95
F) by injecting hot water into the floor heating supply. The supply
temperature for the particular floor heating can be adjusted
indirectly by the flow through the control valve (model KF + RT)
or directly by an integrated constant temperature control (model
KR).
The integrated spherical motor pump ensures an even
temperature distribution on the whole surface and a constant
comfortable temperature level in the floor heating area.
In addition, the MOH 1 is equipped with an integrated overtemperature protection device, which prevents a circulation of
water with temperatures higher than 131 F through the floor
heating loops, thus preventing damage to the floor.
The room temperature control of the MOH 1 works as follows:
The control valve is opened as long as the measured room
temperature is below the set level. This can happen in two ways:
Thermostat drive with remote sensor (model KF) or
thermoelectric drive (model RT + KR) The RT-KR drive must be
connected to a room thermostat (ordered separately). A wireless
radio control is also available on request.

The MOH 1 is designed for oxygen proof floor heating systems.

The mounting bracket allows a left- or right- sided connection to
the boiler/radiator circuit. Due to an integrated bypass, the
MOH 1 can be also connected to the former used but now outdated single-pipe system. The model MOH 1 KF is specially suited
for bathrooms and other humid areas due to the non electric
thermostat with remote sensor.

With the MOH 1 mixing unit, floor heating systems with up to

2 loops and up to 400 Sq Ft can be easily directly connected to
a boiler/radiator loop. The MOH 1 allows additionally for a room
temperature guided control for a chosen reference room. The
surface specification 400 Sq Ft applies to an inside diameter of
the floor heating pipe of the maximum pipe length per heating
circuit should not exceed 861 Ft. For smaller pipe inside
diameters corresponding reductions must be made.

Advantages MOH 1
Compact design is ideal for retrofit installations
Excellent heat distribution due to integrated,
spherical motor pump
Simple connection to existing heating system for floor
heating systems up to 400 Sq Ft
No limitation of the boiler- radiator supply temperature, which
means that old boiler systems with high supply temperatures
up to 230F can be connected to a floor heating system.
Integrated over-temperature protection device (131 F).
The floor heating supply temperature is controllable either by
adjustment of the injected volume flow (model KF + RT) or
directly by setting the integrated constant temperature control
(model KR).

moh2

Design principle
A low temperature heating system can be connected to a boiler
loop using a mixing module. Control valves and circulators for
the low flow temperature loop are integrated into the mixing
module. Completely pre-assembled substations are available with
manifolds in a cabinet or board mounted.
System advantages
The MOH 2 is a low cost system used for systems with 2 to 12
individual zones, up to 2400 Sq Ft. for use in oxygen-diffusion
proof floor heating systems with additional hydraulic adjustment
capabilities. The compact, space saving design (recessed or
wall mounted cabinets available) and the use of the reliable Laing
spherical motor pump allows the system to be installed directly
in the living area if needed. The result is a low cost, simple
system that can be connected directly to the boiler loop. A
separate low temperature loop from the boiler to the floor heating
manifold is not necessary. The boiler manifolds and additional
mixing valves are also eliminated.
Systems operation
The circulator circulates the water through the floor heating
feed connection and the floor heating loops to the floor heating
return connection
When the mixing valve opens, boiler feed water is mixed to
the floor heating loop feed side and the same amount of water
is returned from the floor heating return side to the boiler
loop return side
The mixing valve adjusts the quantity of water coming from
the boiler loop to control the desired floor heating loop feed
temperature
The control valve is equipped with an adjustable knob which
can regulate the amount of water from the boiler loop that is
allowed to flow to the floor heating loop
Control units
MOH 2 mixing modules can be driven by a wide range of Laing
control units. All are especially designed for use in floor and wall
heating. Constant, room or outside temperature guided controls
are available.
All Laing control units provide continuous and sensitive
temperature settings, including a sophisticated technique to
maximize comfort. They all come standard with over-temperature
safety-protection to avoid overheat damages to the floor heating
caused by electrical power outage or defective valves. LED or
LCD signals make them easy to service.

ehr, epr
Applications
Radiant heating systems and surface heating systems, also
applicable as domestic hot water heating, supplemental heating
for low-energy houses, solar systems and heat pump systems,
vacation and weekend homes. Electrical heating today is often
less expensive than other heat sources thanks to the reduced
heating requirements due to improvements in insulation in new
buildings, attractive electricity rates and non-existent start-up
and stand-by losses.

Heat exchangers for system separation

fp
Applications
Floor heating, wall heating and outside surface heating.

Design
(e.g. Model FP 12)

Advantages
Maximum system safety due to complete separation of the boiler
loop from the floor heating loop, no corrosion due to oxygen
diffusion, no accumulation of sludge, no clogging of copper pipe
heat exchanger, limited water damage if floor heating loop is
damaged. Considerable cost advantages for multi-story buildings
due to hydraulic separation from static pressure of primary
system.

Copper pipe coil

heat exchanger

The complexity and costs of establishing a hydronic heating

installation can be reduced significantly by using a Laing Heat
Exchanger. Instead of two different loops for the boiler and the
floor heating loop, one single loop is sufficient for both systems.
Since the silent heat exchanger can be installed right in the living
area, the second low temperature loop from the boiler through
the whole building to the floor heating loop is unnecessary. The
heat exchanger transports the heat from the boiler loop right
into the floor heating loop with maximum safety due to complete
system separation. A floor heating mixer (usually located close to
the boiler) for the floor heating loop is therefore also not necessary.
Due to complete system separation of the boiler loop from the
corrosion resistant floor heating loop, damages in the boiler loop
caused by oxygen from the floor heating loop diffusion is no longer
a problem. The complete system separation also eleminates
accumulation of rust sludge in the floor heating loop, which extends
the life of the surface heating system, and simplifies service
significantly.
Every heat exchanger can be set and controlled separately.
Therefore, individual settings for every floor heating loop in
accordance with the preferences of the inhabitants are possible.
This maximizes the comfort and a sense of well-being. This system
is also ideal and easy to install for retrofit installations in apartment
houses.
Design Principle
A low temperature heating system (i.e. floor or wall heating) can
be connected to a boiler loop using a heat exchanger. Control
valves and circulators for the low temperature loop are integrated.
Completely pre-assembled substations are available with manifolds
and expansion tanks in a flush-mounting cabinet or on mounting
rails. The Laing Heat Exchanger FP is available with heat capacity of
12 or 15 kW. A comprehensive range of control units is available for
all systems.
