STIMULUS
Listening and speaking are difficult skills to teach. Effective teaching of listening and
speaking will enable teachers to encourage students to think critically and creatively.
Thus, a teacher must always try to find ways and strategies to make his or her
lesson interesting. This will motivate the students and build their confidence in
learning these two skills.
ASSIGNMENT:
PROJECT (100 marks)
This project assesses your ability to complete the three tasks below.
TASK 1 (Materials Selection - 20%) Groupwork
In groups of 3/4, choose 6 authentic listening and speaking materials and
justify your choice in about 200 words.
Your justification may include purpose of choosing the text, suitability,
students level, interests, ability and learning styles, time allotted, flexibility
and others.
TASK 2 (Lesson plan, teaching / learning resources 30%)- Individual
Select a topic in the KSSR/KBSR English Language Curriculum
Specifications.
Based on the topic, prepare a 30-minutes lesson and the relevant teaching
/ learning resources for the lesson for a mixed ability class to teach
listening and speaking skills with integration of other language skills,
content, grammar and educational emphases.
*Note : You will be assessed individually on lesson plan and your teaching.
TASK 3 (Lesson implementation and critical reflection 50%) Individual
Execute and record your lesson plan. (30%).
Write a critical reflection of your lesson in not more than 500 to1000
words. (20%)

1. This coursework requires you to work individually and collaboratively. Each
group should comprise 3/4 students only.
2. You are advised to discuss your work regularly with your supervisor to ensure
targets are met.
