General Information
General Information
Vista Plus is unique in its ability to capture and ingest report output generated from
"legacy" mainframes, ERP and other large batch scheduled jobs. The new integration in
Vista Plus Interface for SharePoint seamlessly exposes Vista Plus report content within
SharePoint, extending the content sources and data types available to SharePoint and
providing a single user experience when searching or viewing mixed content.
This document contains four sections: supported configurations, descriptions of the
features in version 1.0, a list of known issues, and installation notes.

Important! All Vista Plus products and components are supported only with
released versions of underlying software. Using Vista Plus with any beta or
pre-release version of a host operating system, Web browser, or other
required software is not supported.
These software versions were supported when this document was published.
However, we can effectively support the product only with software versions
that are also supported by their suppliers. If a software vendor drops support
for one of the listed versions, we will no longer be able to support the product
with that version.

Note
See the Release Notes for your version of Vista Plus for compatibility
information and requirements for your Vista Plus software.
Microsoft SharePoint
Vista Plus Interface for SharePoint is compatible with SharePoint 2010 Standard and
Enterprise. It is not supported with SharePoint Foundation, or with earlier versions of
SharePoint.
Other
Vista Plus Interface for SharePoint requires Microsoft .NET Framework, version 4.0, on the
primary SharePoint Web server where you will install the interface.
User mapping between Vista Plus users/groups and Active Directory users using
either manual or automatic mapping.
Secure Vista Plus index search capability through a defined user name, password,
host, and port. Users are only presented with report content that is specific to their
requirements or access rights, including entire reports, report segments, or specific
pages.
An index search can include content from more than one Vista Plus server.
Search results are presented in a 'hit' list to the user for further drill down and
viewing.
Vista Plus report generations may be pushed to SharePoint using Vista Plus
SmartAlarms.
Report content, whether found through a search or opened from the users SharePoint
report list, can be viewed from any location within a standard browser client.
This version of the interface does not support searching multiple Vista Plus servers
with the same global index search. Any SharePoint user can search only one Vista Plus
server, even if his user name is mapped to names on more than one Vista Plus server.
Chapter 4 of the Administration Guide details how the interface determines which Vista
Plus server to search for each user.
The Vista Plus server host cannot be running HP-UX on a RISC processor.
When a Vista Plus generation is moved offline or deleted, any URLs created for it in
SharePoint are not deleted. If a user clicks on one of these orphan URLs, they
receive a Report Open Failed error from Web View, because the generation is no
longer at the location the URL points to.
Currently, the only way to delete these URLs is from the report list in SharePoint. A
user with delete permission for the Vista Plus Reports list can select and delete any
URL which no longer works. However, since each URL appears in the list only for the
user(s) that the SmartAlarm action created it for, it is possible for there to be no one
with both delete permission for the list and access to the URL.
