Waves interferences.
Optics, Light interference, Youngs double slit experiment, Newtons rings, Diffraction,
Polarization.
Electricity

Week 3

Electric Charge, Electrical Conductors and Insulators. Coulombs law for point Charges,

Week 4

Coulombs law for the Continuous Charge Distribution. (A Uniform line of charge & a
ring of charge), Exercises/ Problems [Quiz01 and assignment 01]

Week 5

Electric field, Electric field of point charges, Electric dipole, Electric field of continuous
charge distribution.

Week 6

Electric field lines, a point charge in an Electric Field, a Dipole in an Electric Field.
Potential Energy, Electric Potential, Potential due to Point Charges. [Quiz02 and
assignment 02]

Week 7

Potential due to an Electric Dipole, Electric Potential of Continuous Charge Distributions

Electric current, emf, Analysis of Circuits, Electric Fields in circuits, Resistances in series

RC circuits, KCL, KVL, Exercises/ Problems. [Sessional-02 solution]


Magnetism

Week 13

Magnetic Interactions & Magnetic Poles, Magnetism & Moving Charges, The magnetic
force on a Moving Charge, Magnetic flux, The Lorentz Force

Week 14

The Hall Effect, and Magnetic force on a current carrying wire, The Torque on a Current
Loop. Magnetic Field due to a Moving Charge, Biot-Savarts law & its applications (A
straight wire segment), Two Parallel Currents, The Interaction between Parallel Currents.

Week 15

The Magnetic Field of a Solenoid, Amperes Law, Applications of Amperes Law (For a
Long Straight Wire, a Solenoid.)

Week 16

Faradays Law of Induction, Lenzs Law, Motional emf, Generators & Motors, Induced
Electric Fields. [Quiz04 and assignment 04]

Inductance, Calculating the Inductance, (Self & mutual Induction), The Inductance of a
