Answer any four questions ( 15 x 4 = 60)

1. A de network has five nodes A, B, C, D, and E. Between these nodes elements are connected as
described below:
Branch AB has a resistance of 10 Q, branch BC has an ideal de voltage source of 100 volts (with node C
as positive), branch CD has a resistance of 12.5 Q, branch DA has an ideal de current source of 10 A
with current direction towards node D, branch AE has a resistance of 25 Q, branch BE has a resistance
of20 Q (Node E is inside the loop ABCD). A de voltage source of 150 volts is connected between the
nodes D and E (with D as positive) and a de current source of5 A with the current direction towards Cis
connected between E and C. Draw the circuit diagram, taking node E inside the loop ABCD and
[15]
determine, with reference toE the nodal voltages of A, B, C, D.

b. In the circuit shown in Figure 1, calculate the load resistance 'RL' for delivering the maximum
power to the load 'RL'. Also calculate the maximum power transferred to the load resistance and
power supplied by all the sources put together at that condition.
