SECTION: First aid measures

4.1

Description of first aid measures

General information:
Take off immediately all contaminated clothing, including underwear and shoes. If victim
is at risk of losing consciousness, position and transport on their side.
After inhalation:
Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. In case of respiratory tract
irritation, consult a physician.
In case of skin contact:
After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. In case of skin
irritation, consult a physician.
In case of eye contact:
In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15
minutes holding eyelids apart. Subsequently consult an ophthalmologist.
After ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. Caution if victim vomits: Risk of aspiration! Immediately get
medical attention.

4.2

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Caution if victim vomits: Risk of aspiration!

Personal precautions:
Wear personal protection equipment. Use appropriate respiratory protection. Remove
persons to safety. See protective measures under point 7 and 8.
6.1.2. For emergency responders
6.2

Environmental precautions
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Do not allow to enter into soil/suboil.
Prevent spread over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers).

Precautions for safe handling

Advices on safe handling:
Conditions to avoid: Inhalation of vapours or spray/mists. Skin contact. Eye contact. Use
only in well-ventilated areas. Do not put any product-impregnated cleaning rags into your
trouser pockets.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air. Keep away from sources of heat (e.g. hot
surfaces), sparks and open flames. Keep away from sources of ignition No smoking.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Explosive mixtures may be
formed in empty containers.

8.2

Exposure controls

8.2.1. Appropriate engineering controls

8.2.2. Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection: With correct and proper use, and under normal conditions,
breathing protection is not required. Do not breathe gas/vapour/aerosol.
Hand protection: Use solvent-resistant gloves. Check leak tightness/impermeability
prior to use. Breakthrough times and swelling properties of the material must be taken
into consideration.
Suitable material: NBR (Nitrile rubber).
Eye protection: Tightly sealed safety glasses. In case of increased risk, additionally:
Face protection shield.
Body protection: Chemical resistant safety shoes. Wear protective work clothing. Not
readily flammable. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Immediately remove any
contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings.
General protection and hygiene measures: When using do not eat, drink, smoke,
sniff. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Protect skin by using skin protective
cream.
