Schengen Visa

French Embassy in Muscat

A Schengen visa enables you to travel for a maximum of 90 days per half year in all Schengen countries. A Schengen visa is not
appropriate if you wish to remain in a Schengen member state for a longer period of time or take up employment or establish a business,
trade or profession.
You have to apply at the Embassy whose territory constitutes the main destination* of the visit (in terms of the length or purpose of
stay) or if no main destination can be determined (and only in this case), the Embassy whose territory constitutes the first entry. Under no
circumstances can a country you wish merely to transit through be considered as the country of your main destination. *Art 5 of REGULATION
(EC) No 810/2009 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 13 July 2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code)

Subject to the rules mentioned above, the French Embassy in Muscat can issue visas for France, Greece and Portugal.
The 25 Schengen member states include : Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland.
Before coming in person to the visa section, visa applicants must book an appointment on the Embassy website
(http://www.ambafrance-om.org/). Once the appointment has been made, visa applicants must come with all the requested documents,
photocopies included. The consular section does not make copies. Due to the high volume of applications, the Embassy
has restricted the number of applications and interview appointments in order to provide you with a better service. For that
reason, kindly anticipate well in advance and apply at least 15 working days before expected date of travel to avoid any last minute
disappointment. Visas procedure fees are required to be paid in cash only on the day of the application (no refund will be possible).
