and objects from Wakefield's fascinating social history collections. If you
are into art, history or food, this should be your cup of tea.

This exhibition has a tempting mix of early 20th century paintings of

cafes, a 17th century still life, a portrait of the author of England's first
curry recipe book, plus photographs of Jack Hulme's family preparing
food in the 1950s plus a sprinkling of foodie objects and much more...

On the March Art Walk Victoria Lucas will take inspiration from the theme
of food and drink and encourage visitors to use book binding techniques
to create a recipe book to take home. This is a free drop in session so
come along any time between 5 - 9 to have a go.

Beam Gallery - Architectural Review Awards - Emerging

Architecture 2009 and The Watchman series

The conference space showcases The Watchman series. This depicts

transient territorial gatekeepers and the patrol of their environment. The
series reflects attachments and affinities that figures past and present
have formed with locations that feature prominently in their working lives.

The main gallery hosts Beam’s latest exhibition: the annual Architecture
Review awards – Emerging Architecture 2009. They have on show some
of the most amazingly exciting new buildings from around the world, from
a school within a bridge in China to a giant ring-shaped sports center on
the Iberian peninsular in Spain.
Art of Oak

A large number of local artists are showcasing a wide variety of

work, ranging from watercolours to mixed media to acrylics.

Harry’s Bar

Artplace at Harry's Bar will be showing work by Keith Blackburn and Sam
Burton both of whom are inspired by similar subjects; the landscape of
their locality, cities and their inhabitants.

Keith’s
work
evidences
his
keen
observation
and
a
fascination
with
the
subtleties of colour. Sam employs loose expressive brushstrokes which
perfectly convey both the simple and complex areas of his compositions.
Some of the scenes may well be familiar, some may not but there's one
thing for sure - the distinctive styles of these artists paintings will not be
forgotten.

Deli Central: Art of Food

Deli Central will be holding an "impromptu" wine and cheese tasting

event between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.

The Hepworth Wakefield
