4.6 Conclusions/ recommendations:

The conclusions are as follows:


The Horizontal deflection in diameter for various depths of cover up to 2.5 m are calculated
and are within the allowable limit.
Collapsing presuure of the pipe is sufficinetly high to overcome the buckling due to the
vacuum created.
Minimum plate thickness required for safe handling is calculated as per AWWA
Manual M11. Pipe thickness selected,
5.8
mm is acceptable to meet the requirements.
Pipe is safe against collapse or buckle from elastic instability resulting from the combination
of Live load and dead load.
