The Sabha is an alternative media platform in digital and print based in M-ward,
Mumbai. It is supported by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai Criminal
Justice Fellowship.
About TISS CJ Fellowship
The fellowship is supported by Tata Trust which is to work on justice system in India.
Fellows are working on different aspects of justice system from Denotified Tribe to
Human Rights Court to Nomads and Transgender. Presently, the location ranges from
Uttrakhand to Manipur to Tamil Nadu to Mumbai. They are working to improve and
research on the justice system with state at different levels.
About The Sabha
The Sabha is a registered fortnightly newspaper in Mumbai. It aims to bring out the
voices of the marginalised while giving platform to university students to do the same.
It is a not for profit entity relying on volunteers, which covers wide range of issues.

Internship Themes
1. Peace Interns
Education & Experience
Age above 21 years
Responsibility
To bring inter-(caste, religion, geography) real relationship stories from
working colonies of Mumbai.
Two stories per week.
2. Community Youth Reporter
Education & Experience
Age 18-35 years of age
A minimum enrollment in graduation if without experience. Education no bar,
if one has relevant experience.
Responsibility
To follow at least two story per week on field.
Visit government offices like Municipal ward, Hospitals, Schools, Unions etc.
Write four articles per month, with field data and conduct two interviews.
Hold media awareness session in a local community, taxi stand /auto stand.

3. Social Mediator/ Communicator

Education & Experience
Age: 21-50yrs
Knowledge of basic social media, website handling will be an additional
advantage.
Regular reader of newspaper or follower of news channel.
Responsibility
Handle social media of The newspaper
Communication to the libraries, university and colleges.
Hold media awareness session in a local community, taxi stand/auto stand.
4. Cognitive Researcher
Education & Experience
Age:18-35 years
Minimum enrollment in Graduation (preferably in Business administration)
Interests in consumer behaviour.
Responsibility
To do research in print media market in stalls and libraries.
Help in media awareness session.
Analyse social media behaviour of the media.
5. Senior Intern
Education & Experience
A retired professional ( age above 50 yrs)
Responsibility
To analyse content related to elderly people in print media
To visit local community and conduct focused group discussion with elderly.
To identify nodal points of meeting of elderly people and their media
mapping.
Write four articles per month.
Communicate with organization working on elderly issue.
6. Translator
Education & Experience
Age: 18 +
Previous experience in translating hindi to english and vice versa
Responsibility
To translate articles from hindi to english and vice versa
Help in media awareness session.
7. Photographer
Education & Experience
Interest in daily life of people and experience in photography.
Responsibility
To write two photo-essay per week, based on themes decided.

Professional Requirement for all Interns

Educational qualification is no barrier.

Ability to communicate in Hindi and English.
For all positions field work is mandatory, which will include traveling in Mumbai.
Transgenders and People with disability are encouraged to apply.

Terms and Conditions of Internship

All internship position is for minimum one month and up to three months.
The certificate of participation will be provided by TISS and THE SABHA.
Interns have to take care of food and accommodation in Mumbai on their own.
Traveling allowance for public transport will be provided on case to case basis.
Some interns will be awarded with an honorarium from TISS according to the work
undertaken during the period.
The decision of the editor of the sabha will be final in case of any disputes.

Dates and Deadlines

Last date to receive application is 5th Nov 2015.

You will be notified of your selection by 6th Nov 2015.
The internship will begin on first week of Nov to 14th Feb 2016.
