Technology Project: Kingdoms LiveBinder

For this project, you will be using a website called LiveBinders. This website will allow
you to “collect” and organize webpages about any topic. We will work with LiveBinders
in the Cyber Café before you begin your project.

By the time we are done, you will know how to create a binder, make tabs and subtabs,
and add web pages to each section. You will also have a reference sheet with
instructions for the different functions to help you when you are working on your own.

You will have some time to work on your project in class. If you do not complete your
project during that time, you will need to find time to work on it outside of class. You can
work in my room before class in the mornings, you may work on it at home, at the
library, at a friend’s house.

That’s the beauty of LiveBinders. Since it’s on the web, you can access it from
anywhere. You will not have to print ANYTHING, or buy anything to complete your
project.

Here are the requirements for your project:

1. You will create a binder in LiveBinders. I will show you how to do this when we
work in the Cyber Café, and you can create your project binder then as well.
Your project will have a name. When the LiveBinder system asks for an email
address, use mine: pinilla.theresa@newton.k12.ga.us . Password: veterans.
2. Your binder will have 6 tabs, one for each kingdom of living things. These tabs
will be labeled. You can 5 earn bonus points for using the Latin names of the
kingdoms.
3. You will create subtabs under each kingdom. One of these will be for a general
information page about that kingdom. The others will be about specific examples
from that kingdom. You need at least 3 of these. For instance, in the animal
kingdom tab, you will have a general information subtab, and also some subtabs
about different animals, like the Indian Elephant, the Dromedary, and the
Capibara. You can earn extra points here also. If you have additional examples,
you will earn 5 bonus points. If you include webpages with multimedia elements
(sound, music, or video), you will earn 5 bonus points.
4. All of your work will be saved on the LiveBinders website. You will give me the
name of your project so that I can view it on the website.
5. All of your chosen sites will be appropriate for school. None of your pages will be
blocked by the school’s computer network. If you find that something you chose
at home is blocked at school you will have to replace it, BEFORE the due date.
6. You will give a presentation in class, no more than 6 minutes long, during which
you will share your project and show us the webpages you chose. We will try to
borrow an Activslate for presentations. There will be an additional grade for the
presentation, and separate rubric.
7. You will turn in your rubric, with the self-assessment completed, before I grade
your work.
