INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the fifth manual of my prop replica construction series. This manual was actually released several years back, but I have since revised the manual and rereleased it.
The drawings contained within these pages are compiled in a step-by-step format to allow a model builder to complete a Personal Access Display Device (PADD) prop
replica. The manual is divided in such a way as to allow a builder to construct a working or non-working PADD replica. An assumption is made that the builder has some
experience in scratch model construction for the non-working PADD replica. A further assumption is made that the builder has advanced skills in electronics, which will
allow him/her to complete a working PADD replica. The electronics used within these drawings are Surface Mounted Devices (SMDs) and are available through suppliers
such as Digi-key Corporation (http://www.digikey.com).
The plastics used for the construction are styrene manufactured by Evergreen Miniatures Inc. out of Spokane, WA. Most hobby and craft stores will have stock of these
plastics or will be able to order the materials for you. Each drawing page contains a material list of all parts needed based on which option (working or non-working)
PADD you decide to construct.
The tools required for the construction of the PADD are fairly common and are available at almost any hardware store. Please be careful when using any of the tools
mentioned. All safety precautions should be observed when using any tools; proper safety gear such as approved glasses should be worn at all times. Proper ventilation
should be used when applying any of the glues or paints mentioned within the instructions.
The graphic decal sheets at the back of this manual are in color and ready to be used for the non-working PADD only. If you wish to use these graphics for the working
PADD replica, it will be necessary to photocopy the graphic sheets onto a clear transparency. Most office supply or printing shops can provide you with transparency copy
for a small fee.
I have endeavored to create these drawing and instructions with the idea that all of the information required to build this prop replica are contained within the following
pages. If any information is missing or is unclear, please contact me via e-mail at gmros@cogeco.ca.
Please take note that the author assumes no responsibility for the use or disposition of any completed PADD prop replica that a builder may construct based on these
drawings. These drawings are provided as a reference only. Duplication and distribution of these drawings by anyone without the proper written authorization of the author
constitutes a criminal offense of international copyright laws. If you feel the copy of the manual you have is not a legitimate copy, please contact me at the e-mail address
shown above or write to me at the address shown below.
I hope you enjoy this manual and please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for future manuals.
