SECTION 4: FIRST-AID MEASURES

Take proper precautions to ensure your own health and safety before attempting rescue or
providing first aid
Inhalation

Remove exposed person to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, perform artificial
respiration. Get medical attention promptly.

Eye Contact

Immediately flush eyes for a minimum of 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the

lower and upper lids. Get medical attention promptly.

Skin Contact

Immediately remove contaminated clothing and wash skin with soap and water.
Launder clothing before wearing again. Get medical attention promptly.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Give large quantities of water. Never give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person. Call physician immediately.

SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Extinguishing Media

Use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or foam as extinguishing media.

Water may be ineffective to extinguish flame but is to be used to keep fire
exposed containers cool.
If a leak or spill has not ignited, use water spray to disperse the vapours and to
protect personnel attempting to stop a leak. Water spray may be used to flush
spills away from areas of potential exposure.

Specific Hazards

Products of combustion may contain carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and

various hydrocarbon compounds. Do not enter enclosed or confined space
without a self contained breathing apparatus and other protective equipment. The
product is flammable when heated to high temperatures. Empty containers when
heated nay pose a fire risk. Fire and container explosion hazards are serious
when this product is exposed to heat or flame. Vapours may travel to some
distant source of ignition and flash back.

Protection of
Fire Fighter

Proper equipment (gloves, shoes, goggles or self contained breathing apparatus)

Other Information

Prevent runoff from fire control or dilution from entering sewers or waterways.

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal Precautions Material is combustible. Remove all sources of ignition. Shut off leaks if possible
without personal risk.
Environmental
Precautions

Do not allow free liquids to enter drains, sewers, ground water, drainage ditches
or surface waters. Report releases in accordance with local, state and federal
requirements.

Clean-up Methods

Small Spill:
Absorb spill with inert material. Shovel material into appropriate container for
disposal.
Large Spill:
Eliminate ignition sources. Spill or leak area should be isolated immediately.
Keep upwind and out of low areas. Stop or reduce discharge if safe to do so.
Prevent entry into ditches, sewers and waterways. Contain discharge by
booming on water or diking on ground. Remove material with non-sparking,
approved pumps, skimmers or vacuum equipment. Absorb/ adsorb residual
materials with DRY earth, sand or other non-combustible materials. Soil
remediation may be required.

Disposal

See Section 13 of this MSDS for information concerning the disposal of this
product.

SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling

Handle in fully grounded, properly designed and approved containers and

equipment systems. Control temperature in shipping and handling to
recommended levels. Keep away from welding operations, sparks, flames or
other ignition sources. No smoking or open flame in storage, use or handling
areas. Empty containers when heated may pose a fire risk. Provide local and
general exhaust ventilation to effectively remove and prevent build up of any
heated vapours or mists generated form the handling of this product. Avoid skin
and eye contact. Wear suitable protective equipment including impervious gloves
and eye protection. After handing, always wash hands thoroughly with soap and
water.

Storage

Keep container grounded, tightly closed and away from heat and strong oxidizers
(NFPA Class III A Combustible). Do not store with strong oxidizers. Empty
containers may contain product residue, which could produce flammable or
explosive vapours.

Precautions

While loading, unloading, tank gauging, etc., remain upwind. Request assistance
of safety and industrial hygiene personnel to determine air concentrations. Know
the location of eye wash stations and safety showers.

Personal Protection

Personal protective equipment (PPE) should be selected based upon the

conditions under which this material is used. A hazard assessment of the work
area for PPE requirements should be conducted by qualified professional
pursuant to OSHA regulations.

Body and Hand

Protection

Wear protective clothing for normal operations like coveralls, flam retardant
clothing (with legs over boots), gloves: Nitrile, neoprene or other material
resistant to fuel oil, and heavy duty boots.
Safety glasses, chemical goggles or face shield as appropriate.

Respiratory
Protection

Use sufficient ventilation to maintain air concentrations below regulatory limits.

Select appropriate NIOSH approved respiratory protection where necessary
(determined by potential exposure and published respiratory protection factors).
For unknown concentration, use self-contained breathing apparatus with positive
pressure.

General Comments

USE GOOD PERSONEL HYGIENE PRACTICES. Good personal hygiene in

respect of hands and under clothing should always be maintained in the course
of work. Wash hands and other exposed skin areas with plenty of mild soap and
water before eating, drinking, and smoking, use of toilet facilities or leaving work.

SECTION 12: ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Environmental Effect Discharges of petroleum products that may cause a film or sheen upon or
discoloration of the water surface or adjoining shoreline. In ambient conditions,
this product has minimal to no volatility into air. Any volatile component degrades
by reaction with hydroxyl radicals, in the troposphere under the influence of
sunlight with half lives less than one day. These waxy hydrocarbon mixtures are
not subject to hydrolysis reactions with water. This complex mixture is expected
to partition primarily to soil and/ or sediment.
Mobility

Mobility in the aquatic and atmospheric environment is low due to low water
solubility and low vapour pressure.

SECTION 13: DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION

Recycle as much of the recoverable product as possible. It is the responsibility of the user to determine if
the material is a hazardous waste at the time of disposal. Treatment, storage, transportation and disposal
must be in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
