Rules and Conditions

REGISTRATION RULE
1. The competition is open to all PICE-UAE Members of good standing.
2. Teams can consist of up to three (3) Members (registered participants in the
Annual General Assembly). Only one entry per team is permitted
3. Registration is FREE. Submit the entry form to the PICE-UAE Spaghetti Bridge
Competition Committee at (piceuae.spagbridge@gmail.com) not later than
November 23, 2015.
BRIDGE BUILDING RULE
Material
1. Pasta: The Bridge must be constructed using commercially available spaghetti
pasta.
2. Adhesive: Super Glue. The usage is restricted to join the spaghetti only; it cannot
be used to coat strands of spaghetti.
3. Loading Platform: The Bridge must include the supplied loading hook as close to
the midpoint of the bridge as possible. The loading hook will be posted to each
team after registration.
Dimensions
1. Distance between the highest (top) and the lowest (bottom) point must not
exceed 300 mm.
2. The distance between the inner edges of the supports is 500 mm; therefore the
bridge has to be longer than that, but no longer than 800 mm, and less than 100
mm in width.
3. The total weight of the bridge (including the loading platform, the hook with the
nut and the washer) must not exceed 750 g.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The team shall construct the bridge within 90 minutes (1 hours), on the spot, at
the pre-designated venue and date/time.
2. Each bridge will be weighed and inspected prior to and after strength testing. If
the bridge exceeds the weight limit or consists of materials not listed in points 1
3 above it will be disqualified.
3. Team members will place their structure over the testing span and make any
adjustments to contact points with the supports.
4. Structures may NOT be glued, taped, or affixed in any way to the supports.
5. The bridge will be tested to destruction.
6. The winning bridges will be ranked according to the weight of the peak load
carried during the strength test. In the event of a tie the lighter bridge will be
ranked higher.
7. The judges decision is final. The judges have the right to disqualify any bridge
that in their opinion is in violation of the intent or letter of the competition rules.
The judges have the right to accept any bridge that in their opinion is consistent
with the rules.

*Only ONE voucher may be used at a time for any PICE-UAE Seminar/Training
*Vouchers are non-transferable & non- convertible to cash.
