2. Main function
The main function of SID-409 as follows:
Reserve supply auto put in function
Normal manual switch function
Protection function
Reserve supply auto put in fault lock function
Event record function
Transferring record wave function
Communication, print, GPS adjusting time function
caused by putting in backup supply to ensure the success of backup switch, so SID-3YL Inrush
Suppressor is needed when the transformer backup switch is cold backup.
2.1.2 Backup switch control logic
The reserve supply switch process concludes: charging, operation and affirm reset.
The charging:
When incomer and bus voltage and every breaker state are at normal condition, the charging
begins. The Auto switch lamp on the panel begins to wink, and after ten seconds the lamp
constant bright, it indicates that the Reserve auto-transfer enter operation and monitor state.
The operation process:
Under monitoring state, if the reserve supply has voltage and no blocking signal, then the
following conditions happen:
1)
Bus voltage lower than no-voltage set-point, and the last time exceed the no-voltage starting
time.
2)
The work power switch turn to open and remain mis-trip starting time.
If any conditions is satisfied, and the working line has no current (to avoid mis-trip when the bus
TV line-break, use line current as the lock criterion of bus no-voltage), it will trip off the work
power switch. The device will close the reserve supply switch and input the reserve supply when
the bus no-voltage test condition is satisfied and the delay set-point is maturated. After transfer, no
matter success or fail, the device enters the state of affirm reset.
The affirm reset process:
Under the affirm reset state, the device stores the record wave dates. It may not enter charging
state to ready for next transfer until delay 10s and remote or local reset operation is received. If the
operation succeeded, the device reset automatically after 10s.
4) The manual switch function can be select, and the switch mode can be set according to
different needs.
Through setting the manual switch set-point, the device can realize flexible configuration of
manual switch function in a variety of occasions, the set options as follows:
[Exit] --- Exit manual switch function.
[Series] --- Check bus, backup supply with voltage, trip work (backup) switch first, and then
close backup (work) switch.
[Auto Parallel] --- Detect bus voltage and backup supply voltage, if the parallel synchronizing
condition is satisfied, close backup switch first, then trip work switch.
[Semi-auto Parallel] --- Detect bus voltage and backup supply voltage, if the parallel
synchronizing condition is satisfied, close backup switch. Work switch is operated manually.
[Parallel & Series] --- Detect the parallel synchronization conditions as the [Auto Parallel] logic,
if the synchronization conditions can not satisfied in the detect delay then choose [Series Switch].
2.2.2 Manual switch control logic
Under normal running condition, the device can realize the transfer function between work
supply and reserve supply through external manual switch (pulse) signal or remote switch order.
Normal manual switch has test synchronization function.
When the breaker state is satisfied for manual switch condition, the manual switch lamp
normal bright, and the Reserve auto-transfer device enter the manual switch operation and monitor
state. Under this state, if local or remote manual switch signal is gathered, working breaker will
transfer with backup breaker automatically. If the operation fails, the device enter waiting affirm
reset state. It may not enter charging state to ready for next transfer until delay 10s and remote or
local reset operation is received. If the operation succeeded, the device reset automatically after 10s.
When the bus linkage over-current protection segment 2 function is put in, and the bus linkage
current larger than segment 2 set-point, bus breaker will tripped after time set-point delayed.
2.3.3Bus linkage haste protection
When bus breaker changes from open to closed, the device opens haste protection for 5 seconds.
During the period if haste protection function is put in, bus linkage current is larger than current set
point, the bus breaker tripped after set time delayed.
2.3.4 No-voltage alarm protection
When no-voltage alarm protection of every incomer and bus is put in and the voltage is lower
than each no-voltage alarm voltage set-point, the general alarm signal is port-out after no-voltage
alarm set time delayed.
2.3.5 Incomer TV disconnection alarm
Each incomer TV secondary disconnection protection soft switch put in and incomer voltage
lower than 70%Un and incomer breaker is at closed, after ten seconds delayed, alarm signal send by
protection and device TV disconnection alarm signal is sent out.
2.3.6 Bus TV disconnection alarm
Bus TV disconnection protection soft switch put in, single phase or three-phase voltages lower
than 70%Un, after ten seconds delayed, alarm signal sent by protection and device TV disconnection
alarm signal is sent out.
total twice. The device storage is up to 12 groups of record data. The contents include bus voltage,
bus current, incomer voltage, incomer current and all digital input information e.g.. The wave
recording event index can be looked over in wave recording event, the waveform, record data can
be transmitted to background computer for analyzing.

3. Control principle
In the backup switching process, before closing the breaker, to avoid the high residual voltage
causing large surge current when closing, it will damage the device or make the backup switch and
normal switch fail, so in occasion that the reliability requirement is very strict but speed
requirements isnt that high, we can use bus un-voltage detection to ensure the success of backup
switch or normal series switch. Un-voltage switch means after tripping the work supply switch,
check bus voltage, until the three line voltages of bus are all lower than voltage set-point of bus
un-volt. switch, and after the time set-point of un-volt. switch, closing the backup supply switch is
allowable, the software flow of backup switch control logic is shown in figure 1.
Normal manual switch is mainly used in work supply and backup supply switching for each other
when normal operating, such as overhaul, test etc. Therefore, in occasion of high requirement of
continuity and reliability about supply and allow short time loop closing, we can select Parallel
Auto / Semi-auto mode, while if loop closing is not allowed, we must select series mode. Normal
manual switch logic is shown in figure 2.

Manual transfer logic:
When 1DL or 2DL tripped, the manual switch function of the device is available. For there has
no voltage transformer in this scheme, so only series switch is available, and parallel & series is
also valid. The series switch logic as follow:
[Series Switch]:
2DL closed, 1DL tripped, if manual switch signal presence, trip 2DL, after the un-volt. test and
delay condition of bus are satisfied, close 1DL.
1DL closed, 2DL tripped, if manual switch signal presence, trip 1DL, after the un-volt. test and
delay condition of bus are satisfied, close 2DL.
After manual switch, the device will return to normal operating mode.

voltage of power supply 2 is higher than under-voltage set-point, then trip 1DL and 3DL, after the
un-volt. test and delay condition of bus are satisfied, close 4DL, if 4DL closed successfully, then
close 2DL, the transient exciting current generated by close the transformer with no-load through

After manual switch, the device will return to normal operating mode.
For the transient exciting current generated by close the transformer with no-load may cause
transformer protection mis-trip, and re-trip the breaker in the supply side, this will lead the transfer
control fail. To solve this problem, we designed SID-3YL Inrush Suppresser. This device can
suppress the transient exciting current generated by close the transformer with no-load, and achieve
success at the first time. The suppresser can install on the operating box of 3DL and 4DL, and send
the control signal of 3DL or 4DL to the Inrush Suppresser, then the Suppresser will connect the
tripping, closing circuit to realize close successfully one time.

Wiring diagram as figure 64:
Control logic
Characteristics:
If the status of the external input value mode 1 and mode 2 are different, the work supply is
incomer 1, backup supply is determined by mode selection status. When mode 1 closed, mode 2
tripped, incomer 2 is the backup supply; When mode 2 closed, mode 1 tripped, incomer 3 is the
backup supply.
If the status of the external input value mode 1 and mode 2 are same, the close sequence of
backup supply is determined by quality of the voltage, the priority level of the voltage from high to
low isincomer 1incomer 2incomer 3the principle of backup switch is as follows:
: Incomer 2 and 3 are backup supplies, if only the voltage of incomer 2 is qualified, close 2DL;
if only the voltage of incomer 3 is qualified, close 3DL; if both the voltage of incomer 2 and 3 are
qualified, close 2DL; if close 2DL failed, then close 3DL;
: Incomer 1 and 3 are backup supplies, if only the voltage of incomer 1 is qualified, close 1DL;
if only the voltage of incomer 3 is qualified, close 3DL; if both the voltage of incomer 1 and 3 are
qualified, close 1DL; if close 1DL failed, then close 3DL;
: Incomer 3 is backup supply, if the voltage of incomer 3 is qualified, close 3DL;
: Incomer 1 and 2 are backup supplies, if only the voltage of incomer 1 is qualified, close 1DL;
if only the voltage of incomer 2 is qualified, close 2DL; if both the voltage of incomer 1 and 2 are
qualified, close 1DL.
Normal operating:
When mode 1 and mode 2 are both closed or tripped:
1DL closed, 2DL and 3DL tripped, bus energized by supply 1 through 1DL, supply 2 and 3 is
used for backup (supply 2 is primary backup, 3 is secondary backup, 2 take precedence over 3);
2DL closed, 1DL and 3DL tripped, bus energized by supply 2 through 2DL, supply 1 and 3 is
used for backup (supply 1 is primary backup, 3 is secondary back up, 1 take precedence over 3,
(Only valid if bi-direction transfer be selected); bus energized by supply 2 through 2DL, supply 3 is
used for backup (Only valid if single direction transfer be selected).
When mode 1 closed, mode 2 tripped:
1DL closed, 2DL and 3DL tripped, bus energized by supply 1 through 1DL, supply 2 is used for
backup;
2DL closed, 1DL and 3DL tripped, bus energized by supply 2 through 2DL, supply 1 is used for
backup (Only valid if bi-direction transfer be selected).
When mode 2 closed, mode 1 tripped:
