1. Howdidyouspendyourtimethisweek?Whatresponsibilitiesdidyouhave?
a. Myresponsibilitiesthisweekwereidenticaltolastweeksresponsibilities.I
taughtthemorningmeetingandtheentiretyoftheliteracyblockwiththe
exceptionofthecorelesson.Ispentalotoftimeafterschoolthisweekplanning
mylessonsforthecomingweek,asIwillbetakingovertheentireliteracyblock,
aswellasscienceandsocialstudies.Alotofmytimewasconsumedbylearning
howtoplansmallgrouplessonssothattheyarealignedtoFASTprogress
monitoring.Agoodchunkofmytimethisweekwasalsospentininternational
baccalaureate(IB)meetingsandmockinterviewsasmyschoolpreparesfortheir
review.TheIBstandardsaretoughtomeetandthathasaddedalotofstressfor
staffschoolwide,becausetheywanttodowellintheir5yearreview.The
interviewingprocesswasconductedbyapanelofIBcoordinatorsfromthearea
andalittleintense,butImgladIgottositinandheartheirquestionsbecauseI
willbeteachingbelltobellwhentheactualIBcommitteecomesintoreviewthe
schoolandinterviewteachers.
2. Whatwereyourmostsatisfyingexperiences?Whatwereyourmostchallenging
experiences?
a. MymostsatisfyingexperiencethisweekwassittinginonPsIEPreview
meeting.Igottomeethismotherandwasabletospeakwiththespecialistsinthe
schoolthatImbeginningtoknowbetter,suchasthespeechpathologist,social
worker,andleadinterventionist.Asoflate,therehasbeenalotofdiscussionand
problemsolvingconcerningPsassociateandkeepingherinourclassroomto
assisthim.Ivelearnedthatwitheachpositivegrowthmarkerhereaches,Pis
eligibleforlessandlessassistancefromhisassociate.Heisdoingfantastically,
becausehehasthesupportofhisassociate,andmymentorandIhavenoticedthat
hestakenafewstepsbackasshesbeenpulledwaymore.Duringthereview,I
wasabletojumpinandprovideinputonwhatsortofaccommodationswemake
forPintheclassroom.IhopethattheaccommodationsIbroughtupwillallowP
toretainhisminuteswithhisassociate;otherwiseImworriedhellfailtobe
successfulinthegened.classroomenvironment.
b. Mymostchallengingexperiencewasteachingwhilethesmartboardwasbeing
workedon.Ourboardhasnotbeenworkinginteractivelyallyearandsomeone
fromthedistrictfinallycameintorepairitinthemiddleofmywritinglesson,
whichrequireduseoftheELMOandboard.Iwasabletorollwiththepunches
sotospeak,butmyadlibbedlessonwasnotasgoodaswhatIhadoriginally
planned,whichmademefeelbadforthestudents.ThenexttimeImputinthat
situation,Ineedtorememberthatlessismoreandthat6yearoldscantalkabout
writingonesentenceformorethan15minutes.
3. Whataretheplansfortheupcomingweek?

a. Thiscomingweek,itisourbufferweekinbetweenunits.Ihavegottentoplan
everythingforthisweek,asidefrommath.Wewillbeworkingonreviewing
everythingwevelearnedthusfar,usingHalloweenandautumnthemed
resources.Imveryexcitedtoseemylessonsgointoplay,asIhaventreallyhad
muchfreedomtodosoyet.Itwasvalidatingtohavemyplansapprovedbymy
mentorandIhopethatmydeliveriesofthelessonsarealsouptopar.Atthis
point,though,Imfeelingprettygoodabouteverything.
