Description:

Programs:

A montage created by blending two images in

Adobe Photoshop. Masks were added to create
effect.

Date:
October 24, 2015

Course:

Visual Communications

Objectives:

I created this image to go along with a scripture

in Ephesians. I used the trees to compliment
rooted in the quote and a picture of a temple
marriage for established in love.
-Audience: An inspirational quote/ image directed to the members of the Church.

Process:

I placed a background image on to a new page

and then cropped it by 8.5x11in. I then copied the backround image to create a new layer.
I then used a sharpen effect over the trees. I
placed a mask over the image and went through
to soften the trees in the foreground. I then added a new layer and placed an image of my sister
and her husband in front of the temple. I used
the brush at 100% capacity to take away any
harsh edges. I then added a mask to this image
and using the brush tool and various opacity
levels, blended the image. I also changed to
image from normal to light. I added a third
image of a tree branch and opaqued it in order
for everything to blend together. I then added
two type fonts to tie the image together with an
appropriate quote.

Objectives:

Geri & Freki is an outdoor clothing company

that I created for this project. They create mens
clothing for extreme winter sports.

Process:

I first created a logo for the company in Adobe

Illustrator. I created my logo with the pen tool
to trace a design. I then used the reflection tool
in order to create a symmetrical composition. I
then eyedropper tool on a photo to extract the
colors I wanted. Second, I used the internet to
find at least four high-quality pictures to place in
my project. I used Flicker for my stock photos.
I opened up Photoshop to remove the background on of the images in order to place it into
my InDesign document. Next, I went to Word to
write up at least 200 words for my company brochure. Finally, I went in to InDesign to create a
brochure layout. I added text boxes and brought
in my text from my Word document. I placed in
my images, including the one I edited in Photoshop, and word wrapped a paragraph to it. I
then used the eyedropper tool to bring in color
from my logo to match my brochure. Finally, I
worked on alignment, organization, and unity in
my design by creating big, medium, and small
elements.

Objectives:

Make a letterhead and design a business card that

incorporates a personally created logo.

Process:

I knew that I wanted to start by thinking up a company that I could work for. I decided on my own design
services based out of Provo,Utah. I wanted my design
to echo the beauty of the mountains there. I created
my logo using Adobe Illustrator. I used simple triangle
shapes to create mountains. I then used my color palette
to create a monochromatic scheme to echo the Wasatch
Mountains in Utah County. I then grouped my triangles
together and brought in text with a textbox to place over
the shapes. I also created a logo that did not incorporate
the name of my company for a later use. Once I had
completed my logos, I opened an InDesign document
and placed it there.
I then opened a new document in InDesign to create
my 3.52 business card. I needed two boxes in order
to create the front and the back designs. The front is my
BN Design logo and the back is the same exact information from my stationary that I copied and pasted into
the new layout. I arranged it to look clean, simple, and
easy to read.

I created a stationary for my own design company to reach out to potential clients. This is for
any persons interested in a graphic designer.

In InDesign, I created a layout for stationary.

I brought in my logo to the top left corner of
the page and downsized it using the shift key to
keep it proporationate. I then placed my second logo (mentioned earlier) and scaled it up. I
dropped the opacity so it appeared to only be a
watermark on the back of the stationary. In the
top right corner of the page, I created 10 pt size
font in a new textbox and added all the necessary information.

Objectives:

A local bookstore with a constellation-themed

interior. For any locals who would like to
browse through their downtown bookstore.

Process:

I created this web page with Visual Studio

Code. I was given a pre-made css document to
work with. I linked this to a html document that
I had created a couple of days earlier for this assignment. I inserted my logo into the document
and used http://www.W3schools.org to search
how to center my logo. I inserted this information into my document.
I then opened up Photoshop and used the eye
dropper tool to select my color hex codes from
the logo. I inserted these into my css document
for my title color, background, and body copy.
For this project, I needed to manipulate the text.
I used Google Fonts and found the html and css
code to copy and paste into my documents. I
also used 3 back-up fonts for the web browser
o go through. I also centered my title by adding
padding to the bottom border.

Libra books bookstore- a constellation themed
bookstore. For anyone who is interested in
visiting a local store to purchase books.

Process:
I tried out a few ideas different ideas out on
paper. Then I opened Illustrator and created my
first three designs using the pen tool. I added
typography to complete the design. Then I got a
few votes from others to see what logo appealed
to them the most. After I got the vote on the
best, I decided which one I would like to refine.
I then created 3 versions of the logo- one in
greyscale and two in color. I manipulated the
color schemes and fonts to add variety between
the three.

I wanted to make a fun doggie daycare poster

to put up around town. The font and color
scheme was chosen to keep the mood light and
playful; like doggie daycare.
For locals around town looking for a place to
put their pooch.
For this project, I had a split-complementary
theme in mind. I went out and took a photo of
my wet dog at the dog park, keeping good composition, light, and focus in mind as I did so. I
used a Z3400 Digital Polaroid camera. I uploaded the photo to Adobe Photoshop and created
levels with sharpness on her nose, saturation
in the color, and color balance for the hues. I
dragged my design to a new 11X8.5 portrait
layout. I downsized the photo to fit the frame;
bleeding out on the left side. I brought in a color
wheel to create my color scheme; brick, green,
and violet. I used the shape tool to incorporate
those colors in the background of my design. I
used the free transform shape tool to add pawshaped color pallets to complete the design.

Process:

I scanned the magazine page, and then inserted the image in to Word. I chose a watercolor
background for two of my three text boxes
for repetition. Then I added a text box for my
article. I chose to leave the background and line
with no fill; in order to create white space. I used
a Serif header and Sans Serif body text in order
to create contrast in my text. Programs I used:
Microsoft Word, Canon Scanner, PDF2JPG.net
(PDF converter).

This flier was prepared for graduate students
who are interested in improving their leadership
skills by attending a conference.
Audience: Recent graduates who are 22-30 years
old.
First, I created sketches for my layout. Then I
chose my best sketch and used this as a guide to
design my layout in Adobe InDesign. I had the
image, logo, and text given to me to create the
flier. I used the triangle tool to provide shape for
the text and image. I also left aligned and right
aligned my text in order to create alignment in
the document. An additional tool used to create
this flyer was the gradient tool for my text box
background.
