Sample Questions for a Hospital Interview

Questions
During an interview, candidates can expect questions such as the
ones in the following list. Depending on the selection process you
are about to undertake, some questions, particularly those relating
to medication calculation, may take on a written form.
1- We are currently recruiting nurses to work with patients suffering

medication?
10- Define Person Centred Care and what it means to you.
11- What would you consider as the most important factors to good
record keeping?
12- How would you manage a new admission with stage 4 pressure
sore?
13- What is the last piece of medical research you have read and
how did it influence your practice?
14- What should you do if you discover you have made a medication
error?
15- What are the 5 rights of medication administration? (Hint: the
right patient, the right drug, the right dose, the right route, and
the right time)
(Scenario Question):
Mrs. Y, is an 87 year old woman, who has been admitted to your
ward, following a fall at home. You take her vital signs, finding her
blood pressure to be 98/65mmHg, her pulse to be 102 beats per
minute (regular), and her temperature 36.8 degrees C.. Her Oxygen
saturation is 96% on air. Whilst washing this patient, you notice that
she has an undressed ulcer on her left leg.
Mrs. Y is the main carer for her 91 year old husband, and is worried
how he will cope while he is in the hospital. Her family are concerned
that she has not been coping for some time, and that she has lost
weight recently. She lives in a bungalow with her husband and this is
the second fall she has had in the last month.
Describe what you this patients main nursing needs are likely to be
and how you might best meet those needs.

Please keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive. For answers, you
should read the materials provided by your recruitment agent, revise
books and notes from your degree and do your own research as well.
Another important item in your preparation for the interview should be
identifying and familiarizing yourself with technical terminology.
