Samar (lalawigan)
Ang Samar (o Kanlurang Samar), ay isang lalawigan ng Pilipinas na matatagpuan
sa rehiyong Silangang Visayas. Catbalogan ang kapital nito at sinasakop ang kanlurang bahagi ng
pulo ng Samar at gayon din ang mga ilang pulo sa Dagat Samar na matatagpuan ang karamihan sa
kanluran ng pangunahing pulo. Matatagpuan ang Lungsod ng Calbayog, ang nag-iisang lungsod ng
Pulo ng Samar sa lalawigan ng Samar. Nasa hangganan ng lalawigan ang Hilagang Samar sa
hilaga at Silangang Samar sa silangan. Nakakabit ang Samar sa Leyte sa pamamagitan ng Tulay ng
San Juanico, na bumabagtas sa Kipot ng San Juanico, ang pinakamakipot na kipot sa bansa. Nasa
timog ng lalawigan ang Golpo ng Leyte.

Hilagang Samar
Matatagpuan sa Rehiyon ng Silangang Visayas ang Hilagang Samar. Catarman ang kabisera nito at matatagpuan sa hilagang
bahagi ng pulo ng Samar. Silangang Samar at Samar ang hanggahan nito sa timog, Sorsogon sa hilagang-kanluran sa ibayo ng
Kipot San Bernardino, Dagat ng Pilipinas sa silangan, at Dagat Samar sa kanluran.
Binubuo ng 24 munisipalidad ang Hilagang Samar.

Agrikultura at pangingisda ang mga pangunahing industriya ng Hilagang Samar.
