POLICY STATEMENT FOR ADMISSIONS

The school has a 26 place nursery with morning/afternoon provision for

children who may be admitted in the term after their third birthday.
Any change in transferring children would be agreed by the Schools'
Governors and parents informed as soon as possible.
Every parent considering choosing to send their child to this nursery is directly
encouraged to contact the Head teacher and arrange to visit at some time
during the working day. All enquiries, questions and comments are welcomed.
Procedure
1. Upon deciding to enrol a child in Early Years (nursery) all parents are
asked to complete a Nursery Application form (copy attached).
2. Children's names are entered onto a waiting list in order of birthdate.
3. When places become available parents are informed by letter (copy
attached) and asked to confirm whether they still require a place.
4. All parents who accept an offer of a place are invited to attend a meeting
for parents of new early years children.
5. Induction arrangements are made to suit individual children.
Policy

Children are eligible to enter early years in the term after their third
birthday if there is an available place.

Places are offered on a part time basis i.e. Mornings or Afternoons in

order that the majority of children who require a place may benefit.

The demand for places may exceed the number available and
therefore there is a waiting list system in operation.

We operate a staggered entry to early years to allow the staff to organise

opportunities to spend a considerable amount of time with individuals and
small groups of children.
Initially parents are encouraged to stay with their children and help them settle
in and join in with classroom activities.
Transfer to Reception
Induction Programme:
A parents meeting is held in the Summer Term before transfer when details of
the curriculum and organisational arrangement are made.
All children will transfer to early years in the Autumn term in which they turn
five years.
A parents meeting is held in June/July when details of the curriculum and
organisational arrangements are shared.
We operate a staggered entry, over a few weeks to allow the staff to organise
opportunities to spend a considerable amount of time with individuals and
small groups of children.
We recommend a short period of part time attendance for children to help
build their confidence in the new setting and we welcome parents support in
helping us to provide a smooth transition through school.
The early years provision in school allows each child to be taught and share
experiences by both early years Nursery and Reception Staff, so as to enable
a smooth, almost unnoticed transition to the Reception Year Group.
