Whatarethespreadsheets?
The RC Spreadsheets v4 are intended to help with
the rapid production of clear and accurate design
calculations for reinforced concrete elements.
These Excel spreadsheets are intended as aids for
design to both Eurocode 2 and BS 8110-1:1997.
GettingStarted
1. RC Spreadsheets require an MS Office
operating system with Excel 2010 or 2013.
The TCC series of spreadsheets are saved as the more
efficient.xlsm files (MS Office 2010). Macros in .xlsm files can
help complete repetitive tasks but may lead to warnings
within Excel. For earlier versions of Excel, use the Help
function in Excel Help to ensure compatibility.
GettingStarted
3. Insert the USB into the appropriate port in
your computer and follow the on-screen Windows prompt to
open the device.
GettingStarted
5. There are comprehensive user guides in
the ADMIN folder (in Adobe pdf format). Additional
guides for beta versions of spreadsheets are also in this folder.
6. Help:

the User Guides,

spreadsheet,

email helpline@concretecentre.com.
GettingStarted
Using the Spreadsheets
Blue underlined cells are for data entry
Red highlighted cells or red text indicate entry errors
Do not paste or drag data (destroys conditional cell
formatting)
Do not open an individual spreadsheet in more than one
window (this may disable pull-down menus)
Information about each spreadsheet will be found in the
User Guides, contained in the ADMIN folder.
GettingStarted
Macros
The macros used enable automated routines.
The printing macros have been assigned to buttons
Turning the macros off will affect the function of some
spreadsheets
Turning the macros off will also make printing of the
sheets as configured difficult and make the choice of
options much more difficult
If macros are not enabled on your system:

Fonts
The embedded graphics assume Marker and two
Tekton fonts are used
To check fonts select Start (or Settings)/Control
Panel/Fonts, and view the font list
To install the intended fonts, click ADMIN/THE FONTS
then in turn right click the desired font and click
Install/.
GettingStarted
Managing the Spreadsheets
The spreadsheets should be used in
compliance with the User Guides available,
with attention paid to any amendments
Users and managers should be aware that
spreadsheets can be changed and must address
change control and versions for use under a QA
procedure
Appropriate levels of supervision and
checking, including self-checking, must be
exercised when using these spreadsheets
Good design requires sound judgement based
on competence derived from adequate
training and experience not just computer
programs.

Concept.xls is an invaluable design tool for the conceptual design of
reinforced concrete frames. In minutes, the spreadsheet produces
13 concrete frame options which can then be compared for time
and cost.
It suggests the optimum concrete frame, giving:
initial slab, beam and column sizes;
reinforcement estimates and
quantities of formwork and concrete.
the costs of foundations, construction time, labour and cladding for
each of the potential concrete frames.
